DANCE & MUSICAL THEATER
Principal Instructors: Kristi Lightfoot, Julie James, Sarah Snow & Christal Williams (Studio Manager),

Professional instruction for ages 3-adult in all levels of tap, ballet, acrobatics, pointé, jazz, modern, lyrical, and hip hop. Classes meet September thru May, concluding with a spring recital.

Year-round touring groups include "Expression" dance troupe (auditioned, advanced performers), and "Show Steppers" musical theater troupe (non-auditioned singing/dancing ensembles, ages 6-18). Approximately 8 community performances annually.

Monday

    Combo: ballet, tap & acrobatics Grades Pre-K thru K). 5:30-6:30. Instructor: Snow.
    Combo: ballet, tap & acrobatics (Grades K-2). 6:30-7:30. Instructor: Snow.
    Pre-Pointe/Pointe (instructor approval). 7:30-8:30. Instructor: Snow.

    Junior Show Steppers (Grades 1-5). 6:00-7:00 year-round. Instructor: James.
    Senior Show Steppers (Grades 6-12). 7:00-8:00 year-round. Instructor: James.

Tuesday

    Jr. Expression (auditioned grades 3-8). 5:00-6:00 year-round. Instructor: James.
    Sr. Expression (auditioned grades 9+). 6:00-7:30 year-round. Instructor: James.

    Sr. Tap Technique. 5:30-6:00. Instructor: Lightfoot.
    Ballet (grades 3+). 6:00-7:00. Instructor: Lightfoot.
    Modern/Contemporary. 7:30-8:30. Instructor: Lightfoot.

Wednesday

Saturday

    Beginner Hip Hop. 9:00-10:00. Instructor: Lightfoot.
    Intermediate Hip Hop. 10:00-11:00. Instructor: Lightfoot.
    Combo: tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop (Advanced Adult). 12:00-1:30. Instructor: Lightfoot.

Our main focus is education and participation, not competition. We believe participation in the performing arts should be a cooperative effort, with the highest award being satisfaction in reaching one's own potential.

PRIVATE: $85 (1/2 hour sessions)


ACTING FOR STAGE & SCREEN
Instructor: Dan Roberts

Classes from September through May for beginning through advanced levels, ages 6-18. All styles and media covered, including basic performance skills, creative dramatics, speech & diction, make-up, scene-development, monologue, pantomime, audition techniques, serious drama, comedy, play production, musical theatre, and acting for movies and TV. Performance-oriented, with at least three major projects or productions within the year.

Fall 2010 Schedule:

Monday

    Advanced Senior (teens). 5:00
        Emphasis: One-act Play & Video Production (performances in December and May).

Tuesday

    Beginning Junior (age 6-12). 4:30
        Emphasis: 1. Intro to Theater, 2. Makeup & Costuming, 3. Monologue, 4. Pantomime.

    Advanced Junior (age 8-12). 6:00
        Emphasis: 1. Standup Comedy, 2. One Act Play Production (performances in December and May).

Wednesday

    Intermediate Junior (age 7-12). 4:30
        Emphasis: 1. Scene Development, 2. Play Production (performance in December), 3. Acting for the Screen (production of 4 video projects).

    Beginning Senior (teens). 5:30
        Emphasis: 1. Intro to theater, 2. The Art of Speech & Monologue, 3. Scene Development, 4. Acting for the Screen (production of 3 video projects).

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION IN KEYBOARD, VOCAL PERFORMANCE, & COMPOSITION
Instructors: Dan Roberts & Kimberly Murphy

Individually-designed instruction for all ages. Recitals, music festivals, and performance opportunities available. Degreed teachers.
Schedule: Weekday afternoons and evenings.

SUMMERSTAGE 2010
Directors: Dan Roberts & Julie James

Summer performing arts training since 1976 for age 6 and up. Two weeks of experience in singing, dancing, and acting, culminating in a musical play and a talent showcase on the Academy's outdoor stage. Sessions meet weekdays, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Session 1: June 13-24.
Session 2: July 11-22.
FEE: $210 (2nd child $195)

    Payments for all Academy class are made monthly in advance, and there are no placement auditions, registration fees, or minimum contracts. Regular classes are held once a week for 55 minutes, and private lessons are 30 minutes in length. Family discounts are available for certain programs.
