DANCE & MUSICAL THEATER
Principal Instructors: Kristi Lightfoot, Julie James and Christal Williams (Studio Manager),

Professional instruction for ages 3-adult in all levels of tap, ballet, acrobatics, pointé, jazz, modern, lyrical, and hip hop. Classes meet September thru May, concluding with a spring recital.

Year-round touring groups include "Expression" dance troupe (auditioned, advanced performers), and "Show Steppers" musical theater troupe (non-auditioned singing/dancing ensembles, ages 3-18). Approximately 8 community performances annually.

Studio A:

    STAR Troupe (invitational/auditioned). 6:00-7:30. Instructor: Varies.
    Pre-Pointe/Pointe (instructor approval). 7:30-8:30. Instructor: Lightfoot.

Studio B:

    Mini Show Steppers (Grades PreK-K). 5:30-6:25 year-round. Instructor: James.
    Junior Show Steppers (Grades 1-5). 6:30-7:25 year-round. Instructor: James.
    Senior Show Steppers (Grades 6-12). 7:30-8:25 year-round. Instructor: James.

Tuesday

Studio A:

    Acrobatics I. 6:30-7:30. Instructor: Birdsell.
    Acrobatics II. 7:30-8:30. Instructor: Birdsell.

Wednesday

Studio A:

    Beginner Ballet (grades 3+). 5:00-6:00. Instructor: Lightfoot.
    STAR Troupe, Jr. (invitational/auditioned) 6:00-7:00. Instructor: Varies.

Studio B:

    Zumba. 6:00-7:00. Instructor: Allen.

Thursday

Studio A:

    Combo I: ballet, tap & jazz. 6:00-7:00. Instructor: Lightfoot.
    Combo III: tap & jazz. 7:00-8:00. Instructor: Lightfoot.
    Combo IV: tap & jazz. 8:00 -9:00. Instructor: Lightfoot.

Studio B:

    Adult Combo I: tap & jazz (Adult Intermediate). 5:00-6:00. Instructor: Williams.
    Adult Hip Hop Workout. 6:00-7:00. Instructor: Singleton.
    Zumba. 7:00-8:00. Instructor: Allen.

Saturday

Studio A:

    Combo II: tap & jazz. 10:00am-11:00am. Instructor: Lightfoot.

Studio B:

    Zumba. 10:00am-11:00am. Instructor: Allen.


Our main focus is education and participation, not competition. We believe participation in the performing arts should be a cooperative effort, with the highest award being satisfaction in reaching one's own potential.

ACTING FOR STAGE & SCREEN
Instructor: Dan Roberts

Classes from September through May for beginning through advanced levels, elementary thru middle school age. All styles and media covered, including basic performance skills, creative dramatics, speech & diction, make-up, scene-development, monologue, pantomime, audition techniques, serious drama, comedy, play production, musical theatre, and acting for movies and TV. Performance-oriented, with at least three major projects or productions within the year.

Monday

    Invitational Troupe (Year 3+). 6:00-7:00
        1. Holiday Show and 2. Spring Play.

Wednesday

    Year 1. 4:30-5:25
        Emphasis: 1. Intro to Theater, 2. Monologue & Audition Techniques, 3. The Art of Theatrical Makeup, 4. Standup Comedy, 5. The Art of Pantomime

    Year 2. 5:30-6:25
        Emphasis: 1. Scene Development, 2. Improvisation, 3. Acting for the Screen (production of 4 video projects).

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION IN KEYBOARD, VOCAL PERFORMANCE, & COMPOSITION
Instructors: Dan Roberts & Kimberly Murphy

Individually-designed instruction for all ages. Recitals, music festivals, and performance opportunities available. Degreed teachers.
Schedule: Weekday afternoons and evenings.

SUMMERSTAGE 2012
Directors: Dan Roberts & Julie James

Summer performing arts training since 1976 for age 6 and up. Two weeks of experience in singing, dancing, and acting, culminating in a musical play and a talent showcase on the Academy's outdoor stage. Weekdays, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, July 9-20.

    Payments for all Academy class are made monthly in advance, and there are no placement auditions, registration fees, or minimum contracts. Regular classes are held once a week for 55 minutes, and private lessons are 30 minutes in length. Family discounts are available for certain programs.
