       Dan Roberts teaches drama, piano, voice, and composition, and he is the director of Summerstage. He received his formal education at the University of Missouri Conservatory of Music, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education (B.M.E./Piano) and a Master's degree in Music Education (M.M.E./Choral). He has been named "Outstanding Educator of the Year" and "Missouri Music Teacher of the Year." He has worked professionally as an actor, singer, and pianist since 1964 and has directed over 150 theatrical productions throughout the United States, in addition to 4 years with the U.S. Air Force Band, 2 years as the state director of the Miss Missouri Pre-teen Pageant, and more than 15 years as entertainment director for local community festivals. He performed with the Kansas City Lyric Theater Opera Company for 4 years and directed professional and parks theater for 12 years before establishing his own academic summer theater at the Academy's current location in 1986. Many of his more than 4,000 past and current students are active professionally in the fields of stage and screen, and his choirs have been nationally recognized for their high quality and achievements.

       Mr. Roberts is a published author and composer of a number of plays and musicals, orchestral sound tracks, the Missouri PTA theme song, and dozens of individual works. This and the Academy are now his principle vocations, having retired from 23 years of public school teaching and 33 years as a church music minister and organist. He also provides performing arts workshops at schools and libraries throughout the Midwest. Organizational memberships include the Music Educators National Conference, the Missouri Music Educators Association, the American Choral Directors Association, the International Thespian Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

       Chris Roberts attended the University of Missouri Conservatory of Music, where she worked toward a Bachelor's Degree in Music (B.M./Voice). Her professional experience includes a tour with the U.S.O. and appearances as a vocal soloist throughout the Kansas City area. She served for several years as PTA president in both the Hickman Mills and Grandview School Districts, and has served on the Grandview Sister Cities Committee and as Secretary of the Grandview Arts Council. She also worked for two years as chairman of the Festival of Trees at Longview Farm. She is the bookkeeper and financial manager of the Academy. She and Dan married in 1968, and they now have three children and four grandchildren.
