Profile: Kimberly Murphy
Instructor: Private Piano

       Kimberly Murphy received both her bachelors B.M. and masters M.M. in piano performance from the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri at Kansas City. She has a varied background of performance experience on both piano and organ, including retirement homes, recitals, churches, Mu Phi Epsilon and alumni events, UMKC talent shows, the UMKC Global Music Festival, masterclasses, and off-campus jobs as a dinner/background pianist. Accompanying positions at UMKC have included individual soloists, the men's chorus, the wind ensemble, the UMKC orchestra, and modern dance classes.

       Kimberly was the first place winner of the MMTA undergraduate piano competition in 2000, and she has attended the Aria International Academy for Advanced Studies, the Bowdoin summer music festival, and the AIMS Summer Music festival in Graz, Austria.

       She has received many scholarships for outstanding achievement, to include the John Strandberg piano scholarship, the Norman Polsky piano scholarship, the Chancelor's scholar award, the Women's Council Academic scholarship, the Edith and Darby academic scholarship, the Mu Phi Epsilon summer music study scholarship, and three other Mu Phi Epsilon scholarships.

       Kimberly is very active as a professional piano accompanist. She accompanies all of the choirs, musicals and soloists at Grandview High School, accompanies the choir and services for the first Baptist Church of Olathe, and accompanies the Opera Kadopera productions and vocal students at UMKC. She is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, MMTA, and KCMTA.

       Kimberly's talent, bright attitude, and outstanding academic and performing accomplishments make her a valuable member of the Academy staff.
