Definitely lossible for a flare gun to ignite, possibly a stove or water heater. However, difficult to believe that any household item, including those two, are powerful enough to create that big of an explosion. The real question is why those flares were shot. They were intentionally shot up to possibly communicate to someone or something. And it just so happend the same day, that giant explosipn happened

My guess is a gas leak. Dude could have been shooting the flares seeking help if he was trapped inside the house that he already knew was going to explode. 😮 I sometimes think I would make a great investigator lol
