Hello again, Nicole Inui….How are you working to get between the clothes hanging on a hanger in a retail store and the actual sale of that new ready to wear mid length jacket with a tag that says, " no special codes, promotions,or discounts will be applied on this article of clothing"….in otherwords how do you gather information about the walk in shopper in the gap between the store front ( or maybe even the parking lot) and the cash register to check out an item…do you analyze video footage
Or do you record conversations shoppers are having alone with an imaginary shopping companion
or as they are speaking with a spouse or a loved one….
Or do you place little Microphones throughout the store as part of your research
Please dont tell me you are only using response surveys on postcards or via email…
Or the best barometer of consumer sentiment before, during ir after a sale is the sale….

Hello Nicole Inui, you said you're going to be looking at the way inflation is behaving and your going to be looking at the way growth is behaving….right…
Now, my question to you then is what behaviors are you looking for and more importantly what are the metrics you are taking into account when your team of observers goes into a retail store, auto dealership, a Staples, an H&M store for example?
Are you watching their behavior as they pull out a credit card and what are you paying atttention to ? Facial expression, look of joy or are you listening closely as they are walking out with their designer bag if goodies while they are commenting to a friend what they just snagged at 20% discount? Are you watching them as they decide which blouse to choose,how many bags they pick up and take out of their cart?
Are you ever curious how the shopper can hone in and pinpoint one rare scarf among 50 or more scarves?
Do you wonder how the shopper was able to pinpoint this one scarf with black and white pencil line drawings?
Do you wonder if the item with constellation of colorful dots that resemble jelly beans popping up on the back and front of it a gift and if not how the shopper will wear or use it?
Are these the type of question about inflation and growth projections you are looking for, Nicole?
