Variety’s Jem Aswad tells “Nightcap’s” Jon Sarlin that 20-years ago, the music industry failed to act quickly enough with Napster and it does not intend to make that mistake again with AI-generated music. Plus, The Washington Post’s Taylor Lorenz says Montana’s potential TikTok ban is a “huge” free speech issue. People saying oh AIs are making mistakes, chatGPT doesn’t fact check, bla bla. AI is learning as we speak. A year from or several years from now, you think AI will keep making mistakes? We were all kids once but then we matured…

When I hear security threats i understand, I do think about that balloon that was hovering in US territory. But I also think about what the US is and has been doing that they should not be doing either, is anyone innocent in this situation I don’t think so.

The music industry sucks so I don't care if AI takes over.
I have high hopes for female rap and new talent in the late 2020s and onwards. That's Karma if AI takes over the music industry. They get rid of the kindest and most outspoken extremely talented people. Now we have trash music artists.

You can still listen to the drake AI song on YouTube, and you always will. Delete it and it'll be posted again, and again, and again. The internet is forever as long as there are humans so the song is here to stay. Drake just mad because everyone unanimously agrees the AI songs are better than his last few albums 🤣 as for copyright; as long as the creators stay anonymous who are they gonna sue for royalties? The AI? 🤣🤣 See the problem. Until the federal government passes laws on AI (which will never happen because government in the US doesn't work) nothing will change and the music industry is just gonna have to deal with it and maybe start exploring AI options themselves

Legally, this should require consent from the artist being copied. Furthermore, who is the idiot responsible for this mockery? Artistic expression, from an AI bot, is fairly meaningless.

Today's singing from rappers sounds so technical with pitch modulation and surgical editing. I'm not surprised it can't be distinguished from entirely computer generated sounds. This so called "music" needs to lose value fast.

How can Universal claim copyright on it if it was not made by them or their artists?

This man looks like the Terminator after having lost some weight.

Most of the hip hop from these artists is nonsense anyway, so of course it's easy to imitate.

simple let the singers ocme up with their unique lyrics…and they need to do it effciently…and release as they do via Universal whoever…and their listners will know as they would tell them when the album or video is released etc,

The folks making their own lyrics can employ whatever voices/technologies they want if it sounds similar tp the likes of Drake or wheover cannot whine and complain cause they never came up with the unique lyrics in the first place by these coders – so what if the voice might sound like Drakes..or whoever else…what Drake and others need to reconcile is why they were not smart enough to come up with better lyrics…and go back to the drawing board.

Ai will be the master of imitation and collage, mimicry and caricature, but it can also be used for experimentation in which a real person will use their intuition and taste to select content (kinda like in the old days) Cool and unique things will come out of It but Ai will still require the "artists touch." It will be easy for Ai to create variations on most modern music because most modern music is already generic and imitative. Four chord pop songs and trap beats will be no match for Ai, The Beatles Sgt. Peppers, Led Zeppelin IV and Stevie Wonders Innervisions will prove to be much more difficult, if not impossible and then you are back to artists making intuitive choices. A simple motto for 2025: Unless your doing something truly unique, the Ai has already got you beat (and then it will assimilate and mass produce!) The biggest concern is a passive audience that allows streaming services to generate their own Ai music (something of a Muzak Nightmare.) Why pay artists if Spotify can own it all? Throw in some Soma and we've finally got that brave new world.
