Why The HIV Vaccine Is Closer Than Ever
Scientists are hopeful that the mRNA technology used in the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech Covid vaccines could be a turning point in HIV vaccine development. Every Dec. 1, the world commemorates those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Known as World AIDS Day, it serves as a reminder that there has been an ongoing pandemic for the past 40 years, pre-dating Covid.
The Covid vaccines were sequenced, developed and approved in the U.S. in record time, but that would not have been possible without decades of work by HIV researchers.
“Almost everybody working on Covid vaccines comes from the HIV world,” said Mitchell Warren, executive director of AVAC, a global advocacy group for HIV prevention. “Moderna had been working on mRNA-based HIV vaccine before SARS-CoV-2 was even known to exist.”
An HIV vaccine has eluded scientists for decades. The traditional thinking around vaccines is to mimic the body’s natural immune response to a virus. The problem with HIV is the body’s natural immune response isn’t strong enough to fight the virus. This means a vaccine has to come at the problem in a different way. Scientists are hopeful that mRNA technology — the same technology used in the Covid vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech — could be a turning point.
Government funding is a crucial component of all vaccine research and development. Within a few months, Operation Warp Speed allocated $10 billion to Covid vaccine research and development. By contrast, between 2000 and 2020, the U.S. government contributed $12 billion toward HIV vaccine research and development. This funding frequently goes to private companies.
“Just about every vaccine that we get today was developed by some private company, even though the actual research and development may have been a shared enterprise,” said Dr. Jeffrey Harris, co-founder of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network.
Public-private partnerships can have serious implications for who turns a profit and who ultimately gets access to the vaccine. Moderna and the National Institutes of Health are currently locked in a legal battle over a key patent for the Moderna Covid vaccine.

My idea in order to cure is like that:
Virus mutates a lot. We need to stop its mutation at least on its surface protein antigens. If we can force the virus to produce same antigen on its surface via a mRNA vaccine or a drug and wait till all viruses has same antigen on their surfaces and after that to the patient we can give neutrolizing antibodies in order to demolish viruses because they expressed same specific antigens on its surfaces.

Get the d32 gene in everyone. It rejects viroids as it has No receptor for hiv or any pathogenic viroid or bacteria 2 latch onto so cells can't be infected. Researchers have known about the d32 gene since late 80s early 90s. They've used bone marrow transplants from d32 gene carrying donors n gave one 2 a man known as the Berlin patient: it cured his hiv & cancer both. There's got 2 b an easier way thru gene editing 2 get the d32 gene into everyone; those with the hiv and also those who don't have it. Do it asap.

Also and hiv vaccine wouldn’t be profitable for big pharmaceutical. Take for example Prep that over $2,000 for a 30 day supply. Why would they develop an HIV VACCINE for!
mRNA vaccine was used on HIV PREVIOUSLY and it was a total failure! The study was stoped people patients cells developed tentacles like spikes , now if the COVID vaccine only have spikes on your cells causing blood clots and strokes imagine your blood cells with TENTACLES like spikes !

Ok all good, we are close to get a vaccine that millions of people need since 30 years ago. But when??? You are not telling me anything with "soon than ever". One thing that I've learned from this last pandemic in the world is that we have the technology to create a vaccine in two years and decrease the number of people infected.
