‘Echoing’ fascists: The rising alarm in Donald Trump’s rhetoric
Four weeks until the Iowa Caucuses, Donald Trump is facing backlash for his anti-immigration rhetoric on the campaign trail. Trump said immigrants coming into the U.S. are “poisoning the blood of our country.” The Biden campaign compared his words to Hitler’s use of the term “blood poisoning” in “Mein Kampf.”

Trump knew EXACTLY what he was saying.

Here’s Where We Are:
From the moment it became clear that Donald would become the GOP presidential nominee in the 2016 race till now, Republicans in the House and Senate have pretended they love, adore, support, are in awe of Donald.
Pretended. They all know better, including his most ardent public apologists.
From 2015 through today, Donald has been like a little terror of a child, dancing in the middle of the national dinner table, hurling a steady stream of childish insults at the guests, and kicking food in their faces. The Republicans at the table, aghast and shocked at the depths of his abuse and childishness, say to the rest of those at the table, “Isn’t he just the cutest thing?” As they wipe pieces of mashed potato from their own faces, and pick pieces of salad out of their hair.
This is where we are with the Republican party in 2023: still pretending they love and adore this monster of a child whose horrific behavior hasn’t slowed down for even one moment. In reality, they collectively loathe him, but dare not say so out loud. Why? Because they fear him calling them a “RINO,” thus risking losing the red-hatted cult’s votes in their next election cycle.
They do not see—or perhaps they simply choose not to acknowledge—the creeping gangrene that Donald is to the entire party and to the entire nation as a direct result of their enabling of him. Even when quoting Hitler almost word for word, they can’t seem to find enough courage or integrity to call him out on it.
Their pretend belief in him is an act of pure self-preservation. They are lying to your faces about him in order to save their own skins. It is a betrayal of the worst kind: a betrayal of you, the country, their own integrity, the very notion of truth, and the of electoral process itself.
If Republicans have any sense at all, they’ll vote these self-serving enablers out the next opportunity they get. They do not deserve to be there.
