Get ready for a bold debut! Miami Swim Week 2024 witnessed a groundbreaking show by the St. Thomas University’s Fashion Merchandising and Design program. Their inaugural “Wave” runway show showcased a collection unlike any other, a testament to sustainable innovation and the boundless creativity of young designers. Mentored by Dr. Rzyczycki and Professor Camacho, STU students collaborated with Sneaker Impact and Jeanologia to breathe new life into discarded materials. End-of-life sneakers were transformed into multi-material pellets, while deadstock denim was repurposed, creating a collection of wearable art pieces with a powerful message. The resulting swimwear transcended function, becoming a canvas for innovative fabrication and a powerful statement on upcycling within the fashion industry.
