Sahm Says ‘Sahm Rule’ Was Triggered After Jobs Report

US hiring slowed sharply in July and the unemployment rate rose to the highest level in nearly three years. That data triggered a famed recession indicator dubbed the “Sahm rule.” The mastermind behind the gauge, former Fed economist Claudia Sahm says while the US isn’t in a recession, “we’re not headed in a good direction.” She spoke on Bloomberg Radio with Tom Keene and Damian Sassower on “Bloomberg Surveillance.”
