FULL Ovechkin On-Ice Ceremony After Passing Gretzky for the Most Goals in NHL History
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his 895th career goal to complete “THE GR8 CHASE” and surpass Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history, a record “The Great One” held since he registered his 802nd career goal on March 23, 1994.
“The Great 8” is the 10th player in the NHL’s 107-year history to claim the title as its all-time goals leader (outright or tied) – and just the fourth to own that distinction in the past 72 years, following Gretzky, Gordie Howe (Nov. 10, 1963 – March 23, 1994) and Maurice Richard (Nov. 8, 1952 – Nov. 10, 1963).
