CNN visits Goma after rebels took eastern DRC city
US President Donald Trump said he has “settled” the conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The ‘peace deal’ signed in Washington in June came after an armed group known as M23 – allegedly backed by Rwanda – took control of two major cities in eastern DRC, Goma and Bukavu, at the start of the year. However, many armed groups in the DRC are still fighting. In this exclusive report from rebel-held Goma, M23 says it won’t stop until it reaches the country’s capital.
