Kimmel defends free speech, says he took it for ‘granted’

“This show is not important. What is important is that we get to live in a country that allows us to have a show like this.”
Late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel made his return to ABC Tuesday night and defended free speech, saying that it is what other countries “admire most about this country.” He emphasized that a lack of free speech would be “un-American.”
