Shortly before his 8 p.m. ET deadline, the president backed down from his threats to destroy Iran’s critical infrastructure at the urging of Middle Eastern leaders.

“I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE!” Trump announced in a post on Truth Social.

This marks the fifth time Trump has moved back a similar deadline since March 21.
