Chiaroscuro palettes, rosette parkas, and raw emotional power – admire Simone Rocha S/S 27 on FashionTV!
Unveiled inside the historic halls of London’s Old Bailey during London Fashion Week, Simone Rocha’s spring/summer 2027 collection opens with a poignant confession: “”I’m trying to love you.””
Drawing inspiration from Caravaggio’s rediscovered masterpiece The Taking of Christ, Rocha translated the painting’s intense chiaroscuro – deep crimson reds, midnight blacks, rich petrol blues, and stark whites – into a hypnotic meditation on desire, vulnerability, and intimacy.
Clothes touched, hugged, and clutched the body, exploring the space where clothing acts both as an intimate veil and a protective shield. Subverting her signature codes of romance, Rocha juxtaposed delicate deshabille and boudoir slip dresses against utility-driven canvas parkas, utilitarian bomber jackets, and sharp tailoring.
Sculptural leather roses adorned necklines, while micro-shorts embroidered with floral motifs stood alongside voluminous taffeta ballgowns and cocoon-like hoods framing the face like Old Master portraits. Accentuated by crystal-beaded eyebrows, velvet red lips, and plexiglass heels, the S/S 27 presentation masterfully stripped away excess to reveal a lighter, infinitely assured, and fearlessly sensual vision of modern femininity.
