This clip is misleading. The meal Chef Yia made is his own invention. It is no where close to an authentic Hmong food that you will find it at a Hmong house.

Isn't " tiger bite" in the hmong language close to the worst thing you can say to someone?my understanding is that there aren't really swear words and slang. Its a beautiful language. Its almost sang. Ive enjoyed lots of time with hmong friends and the food is always INCREDIBLE and you will never EVER leave hungry or thirsty. Lol

Don't be fool my his propaganda. this is not hmong food. it is food cooked my hmong person. What he was cooking is a typical Lao/Laotians food. Hmong eat mainly steam jasmine rice, not sticky rice. And their food is mainly boiled vegetable and some meat, mainly pork.

Real hmong food is boil pork, chicken or beef with pumpkin leaves or other veggies…
The rest are copied from thai, lao and vietnamese cusines, its just that we put a little twist on it and yes peppers is a must…
Still very good tho…

I've been watching the Food Network for 20 years and this is the first time I've seen Hmong food featured! We don't need someone teaching us how to bake brownies. We need more ethnic content. Learning the Hmong culture and their specialized way of cooking is much more fulfilling!
