For the first time in its 140-year history, Texas A&M University’s Corps of Cadets is led by a woman. Meet 21-year-old Corps Commander Alyssa Michalke.
It would be more impressive if it wasnt about gender. If this were simply the humble accounting of a commander…. bravo all the same but i really dont think anyone sees you and thinks you are less of a commander because youre a woman the fact you think people do makes you seem self contious and a bit weak minded.
Spent four years in the Aggie Corps of Cadets and then eight years in the US Army. Cadet Colonel of the Corps Michalke is obviously an extremely capable cadet and the military will be weaker for her not becoming an officer at graduation (the patch on her left shoulder means she does not hold a military contract for service). She appears far more qualified to lead cadets and soldiers than so many others I have seen. If I were with ISIS and saw her on a radio with a set of binoculars trained on me, I would be saying my prayers as something nasty, made of steel, is about to arrive on my grid coordinate. Seeing this does not make me miss the military one bit. I'm happy to not be a brainwashed bully for greedy corporations to send abroad to invade foreign lands for their own economic interests, …. that's what being a soldier for America really is.
Wow. She didn't play the gender card non-stop at all. For women who actually want to be leaders, the correct answer is to never discuss the topic of gender. You just don't talk about it. It degrades you as a leader to entertain any discussion beyond your professional responsibilities.
