Americans’ opposition to the war in Iran has hardened, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, with almost two-thirds saying the US is not winning the conflict and more saying President Donald Trump isn’t doing enough to end it.

Americans have never held positive views about the war, and nearly seven months after it began, broad majorities say the conflict has hurt US interests, has not been worth the costs and that the president lacks a clear plan to handle it.

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten breaks down Trump’s sagging numbers on Iran and foreign affairs. Also, CNN’s Alayna Treene and Audie Cornish preview the challenges facing Trump as he heads to the United Nations General Assembly.

The White House has launched another taxpayer-funded television ad before the midterms, this time featuring imagery of President Donald Trump walking down a hall as audio plays of him saying “this is the final battle.”

The ad aired during at least two NFL games on Sunday, during Fox’s broadcasts of the Washington Commanders-Seattle Seahawks matchup as well as the Carolina Panthers-Cleveland Browns game.

CNN’s Alayna Treene reports on the souring mood of Trump insiders ahead of the elections and CNN’s Audi Cornish discusses the ad with her CNN This Morning “group chat.”
