President Trump launched the U.S. into a new trade war with Canada, imposing 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian goods. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Trump wants Canada to “negotiate in good faith.” In response, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada was at war with the U.S. and lamented that “America has changed” and promised “dollar for dollar” retaliation. The comment comes from Foreign Minister Zarif, who met with Kerry many times while Kerry was secretary of state during Obama’s second term.
