‘Outrageous Use Of State Power’: GOP Fears College Educated Voters
“[Republicans] have a political problem: winning over college educated voters,” says Chris Hayes. “But as opposed to thinking about what that would mean for reformulating the party … the solution they come up with is to take the sledgehammer of the state to the institutions of higher education.”

This is crazy. Vote these fascists out because it'll get worse. They are NOT conservatives when big brother/government policies like this is all they have. Scary.

What's funny is the FL and TX GOP are more communist than most socialist countries. Both Abbott and DeSantis hate books, teachers, and the well educated. Now those states are banning books. They're forcing christianity and white nationalism onto public schools. What's their motto? Get em while they're still young. You can see FL and TX are two of the most radicalized states in the country. They make Arkansas look sane.

I still remember the day that my mother and grandmother expressed their sincere fear that the university had taught me to be both a nazi and a communist because I had books regarding both on my shelf. They couldn't understand that learning about authoritarian and totalitarian systems didn't automatically result in "believing in them." The Republican Party still represents this paradigm driven by fear and ignorance.

@David-fm6go
January 18, 2024 at 4:05 pm
Republicans will always follow the path of least resistance to power. They don't try bc they have a path to power without it. The Republicans will never change unless smashed a couple of times, then the donors, who are the source of much of these problems by the way (climate, college debt, health care are the main drivers of suburban trends and Republicans cannot do acting on them bc donors get mad), will sit them down lay down the law and then they will start trying to be a legitimate party again.
The Democrats have to save the country and by extension the Republican Party.
1. Nuke the Filibuster
2. Voting Rights
3. Independent Redistricting and expansion of the size of the house (Cube Root Rule: 675 for 2010-2020. more representative, harder to drown out minority groups and views with smaller districts and fewer people per district makes the donors less powerful)
4. Aggressive Campaign finance reform
5. Ethics Reform lifetime ban on lobbying for ex Congress and staff
6. Term Limits
The first five can be done legislatively.
