“You know that moment when you’re watching a horror movie and a person goes down into the dark basement or out into the woods and you just instinctively yell, ‘don’t go down there!’ Of course, they always go down there. Just like Republicans always do in the era of Donald Trump. One after another, they walk into his arms. You’re watching and everyone is warning, ‘you probably don’t want to do that. It’s not going to end up well.’ Then they do and their careers seem to end in humiliating fashion. The latest example: the third shortest tenured speaker in American history, Kevin McCarthy.”

In 2023, a former Marine strangled a homeless Michael Jackson impersonator to death on a New York City subway. The story became national news, as Americans chose sides, either demanding justice for another Black man’s death at the hands of a white man or defending the actions of a former soldier who said he believed he was protecting the car’s passengers. Anand Giridharadas chronicled this deadly chapter in American history and its aftermath in his latest book Man in the Mirror. He dissects the divisions that have been spreading in the country in this – as he calls it – age of estrangement. “In a case about dehumanization,” he says. “I wanted to humanize everybody. ”

Well, the truth here is if you're not on Donald Trump's side and agreeing with everything he does then you're his enemy. That's reality and he couldn't care one way or the other about how much you get hurt by it. How many people has he harmed while he was president and even now couldn't care less. He shows no emotion towards that. You know I feel bad that I did this to the person people also have to remember when he finally goes to jail or prison. Whatever you want to call it. He will blame everybody under the sun except for himself and really he's the only one doing this. He's the reason he's in court right now. Nobody else's fault
