Is ICE Hurting Local Economies? #law #politics #shorts

Published

on

Immigration raids that began in Charlotte, North Carolina, last November set off a chain reaction: emptying community spaces, crippling businesses and illustrating the damaging effects of the Trump administration’s deportation campaign on local economies.

As has been the case in communities all across the US, mass immigrant detentions have left a lasting social and economic void that extends far beyond those targeted.

Stock Rout Pauses, Europe Heat Wave Intensifies | The Pulse 6/24/2026

Published

on

A measure of calm returned to equity markets after a selloff in top-performing technology names, with Micron’s earnings taking on added significance as a test for the artificial intelligence trade.
Nasdaq 100 futures rebounded after worries about stretched valuations sent the index down more than 3% in the previous session.

President Donald Trump said Iran will be able to use funds released from frozen accounts only to purchase food and medical supplies from the US, seeking to ease concerns about peace negotiations that both sides say are making progress. But Trump’s comments were disputed by Iran, the latest example of the two sides making conflicting claims about key issues, including the status of nuclear inspections.

France recorded its hottest ever night and day as the heat wave searing western Europe deepened, disrupting schools, transport and tourist sites. The extreme temperatures, driven by a high-pressure heat dome and reinforced by atmospheric shifts linked to a developing El Niño, have already been blamed for several deaths. Europe’s power supply is being squeezed by low wind generation and heat-related curbs at French nuclear plants, where high river temperatures are limiting output.
