“We could see the missiles”: Seafarer recounts weeks stranded in Strait of Hormuz

On Feb. 28, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced over short-wave radio that the U.S. and Israel had launched a war against Iran and that the country was closing the Strait of Hormuz — leaving an estimated 20,000 seafarers on 2,000 ships stranded at sea for weeks.

Ines de la Cuetara spoke with Vinay Yadav, one of the seafarers stuck for seven weeks near the strait.
