‘BEYOND STUPID’: Watergate vet BLASTS Nixon rewrite as ‘excusing Trump’

Published

By

Trump’s Justice Department is reportedly reviewing whether Watergate prosecutors committed misconduct. It’s the latest move by the Trump administration to recast Richard Nixon as a victim of the “deep state.” Former Rep. Liz Holtzman, who served on the House Judiciary Committee that voted to impeach Nixon, called the effort “beyond stupid.” Rewriting Watergate, she said, is an attempt to “work out some way” of exonerating Trump. “It was a high moment in American history — that we held a powerful president accountable,” Holtzman said. “And Trump wants to take that down.”
