Trump says he will reopen ‘enlarged and rebuilt’ Alcatraz prison

Published

on

President Donald Trump said he will direct several federal agencies to “reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt Alcatraz,” a facility that for decades was a federal prison and is now a national park.

Alcatraz, which was closed 60 years ago due to its crumbling infrastructure and high maintenance costs, “will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social Sunday, later telling reporters it was “just an idea” he had as federal judges pushed to ensure deported migrants had due process.

During a press conference Monday, he reiterated his plans for Alcatraz, saying in part, “We’ll see if we can bring it back in large form, add a lot.”

The Slopaganda war: Lego videos versus Truth Social posts

Published

on

By

Every American war has had its defining medium. World War I was the newspaper. World War II was the radio broadcast. Vietnam was the television camera. The phone video defined Ukraine. But the Iran war — with internet access disrupted across the region and the White House releasing few details — has been fought on a medium no war has ever had before: AI-generated content, from both sides. Tonight on Primetime Focus, Elise Jordan traces a hundred years of how America has seen war, and asks what it means when this one is being told in “slopaganda.”
