Manhattan Shooting at Park Avenue Office Housing NFL, Blackstone | The Opening Trade 7/29/2025

Published

on

A gunman killed at least four people and himself at an office tower that houses Blackstone Inc., Rudin Management, the National Football League and KPMG among others, sparking hours of chaos and fear in Midtown Manhattan on Monday evening. The suspected gunman’s body was found on the 33rd floor, which is occupied by Rudin, and authorities identified the shooter as 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Nevada. A police officer was among the dead in the attack at 345 Park Ave., according to city officials. A Blackstone employee also died, according to a person briefed on the matter.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said a 90-day extension of a trade truce with China was a likely outcome with negotiations between the two countries underway in Stockholm. Lutnick’s comments followed the start of a new round of talks between the US and China, where the two sides are discussing extending the truce and addressing issues such as duties tied to fentanyl trafficking.

SpaceX Draws $89 Billion Demand for Debut Bond Offering

Published

on

SpaceX has drawn about $89 billion of demand for its debut US bond sale, according to people with knowledge of the matter, setting the stage for one of the biggest deals in the US investment-grade market this year.

Elon Musk’s rocket, satellite and AI conglomerate is seeking to raise between $20 billion and $25 billion from the five-tranche offering in a deal that’s expected to price on Tuesday. At the lower of that range, demand would exceed the bond size by more than four times. Debt investors, who tend to be more conservative than those in the equity market, are betting on Musk’s ability to deliver on his promises even as the company is projected to burn significant amounts of cash over the next few years.

For more, we speak with Robert Schiffman, Senior Tech Credit Analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence.
