Alan Dixon had no spine and did not do what was right, which was to deny anyone a seat on the Supreme Court to a sexual predator!

Women in the Australian parliament have been treated the same way by the men who rule by majority of bums on seats. If men cannot take the facts of bad behaviour by their colleagues then we will remove them through the electoral process and they can try to get a job in the general workforce. What a bunch of wankers. Well , if that floats their boat, then they can take their frustrations out on themselves and leave us alone.

Thank you for the history lesson. This story is STILL relevant in 2021.
Americans must dump Republicans in 2022 and 2024 to protect democracy and individual liberty and equal rights under law for all, especially for women … for your mothers and wives and sisters and daughters and those that love them.
Women all over the country need to dump Republicans (even if they do not say so in public) to protect the right of women to make some of the most personal and consequential decisions they will ever face.
Americans, especially the youth of America, need to protect their own future in a nation of people governed by CONSENT of the governed by dumping Republicans who refuse to enact federal law to protect voter's rights and the security and integrity of elections.

  20. @douglaidlaw740

Trump couldn't get to the Supreme Court fast enough, but his nominees, including Brett, consistently voted against him when the law required it. The Chief (another Republican nominee) had previously warned Trump that having "mates" in the Court would not affect their independence. Sessions as A-G had taken the same approach, that he wasn't Trump's stooge. So why do you want to get rid of Brett? He is on your side. When SCOTUS is seen as no more than part of the political system, when each change in politics means simply enlarging SCOTUS to install one's own friends, as has been suggested, Biden is wanting exactly what Trump wanted, partisan siupport from the judiciary. Another nail in the coffin of American democracy — as if there aren't too many nails there already.

Brett is has a disgusting record, the evidence was never heard but all that is ok w Republican who don’t care much about women’s rights. Perhaps Republicans would like to see only men voting again!

No matter who the Democrats would’ve been able to recruit a Democrat who would claim that long long ago she was attacked by the candidate with no witnesses. She said/he said. Fortunately, like the boy who cried Wolf , particularly evil scheme of the Democrats has lost its power.

The supreme court, the presidency, the Senate, and state governments Nationwide are now in the hands of power mad ideologues unconcerned about history and their ripping boot heel on its pages. If democracy lives, the Republican party is dead. If the Republican party lives, democracy is dead. So much for right wing "patriots".
When a political system loses the respect and support of its people, we have a name for it: the fall of a civilization.

There’s also some history about Dixon’s senate seat.
1998: Republicans gained Dixon’s senate seat.
    2004: Democrats gained the seat.
    2010: Republicans gained the seat.
    2016: Democrats gained the seat.
2022: The constant change with the seat appears (as of August 2021) to be at an end. The race is seen as safe Democratic (again as of August 2021).

Just reading this in 2020, saddened by the worst news one can get, trying to think of anything but that….I decided to listen to my feed and here she reads a story about a powerful woman, women standing up for each other, justice led by a ring in the nose and the story stopped and my pain returned. I cried then, and now…..covid has hit home.
