Houthi Threat Grows as Saudi Pipeline Shutdown Hits Oil
Saudi Arabia faces growing economic pressure as Houthi threats target the kingdom and its East-West oil pipeline could remain mostly shut for six weeks, tightening supply routes around the Red Sea. European oil prices surge as Aramco delays some deliveries, while Russia extends its diesel export ban through September and tighter Chinese fuel stockpiles raise the prospect of export curbs. Oil’s supply-driven rally, however, begins to look overdone.
The US 10-year Treasury yield tops 5% ahead of the Federal Reserve decision, with traders pricing in more than a 90% chance of a rate hike. Bloomberg Economics says Kevin Warsh could leave another hike in play as the Fed is seen potentially raising rates despite pressure from Trump. Markets await the decision as Bessent prepares to meet his Chinese counterpart, with tariffs, US energy and agricultural exports and differences over AI expected on the agenda.
Bitcoin suffers its biggest drop since June after the US Senate blocks a bill, while Bessent says he supports $5,000 checks for Americans and believes they could be funded without increasing the deficit.
In AI, Trump advisers meet with Anthropic executives as OpenAI weighs a funding round valuing the company at $1.2 trillion and works with Anthropic and Google on AI safety. Hong Kong plans to double spending on technology and innovation.
Dubai continues to attract strong global tourism demand, with Kazim saying visitors from the CIS, Far East and Middle East are increasing, although the city remains reliant on Emirates and flydubai to bring in tourists.
In Africa, El Niño is straining Ethiopia’s power supply as drying dams force cuts to Bitcoin miners, who consume almost a third of the country’s electricity. Senegal seeks a debt plan under the G20 framework, the US restricts visa access for some South Africans, and Vodacom plans to appeal a ruling involving its Safaricom stake sale. Guests includes Jeffrey Sexton, Demeter Tactical Investments CEO, Issam Kazim, Dubai Corp for Tourism and Commerce Marketing CEO and Guy Wolf, Marex Market Analytics Global Head.

Fed Unanimously Raises Rates by a Quarter Point
The Federal Reserve voted unanimously to raise interest rates by a quarter percentage point and penciled in an additional hike later this year, steps aimed at containing inflation that will test Chairman Kevin Warsh’s relationship with President Donald Trump. The benchmark federal funds rate is now in a range of 3.75% to 4%. Bloomberg’s Michael McKee reports.

So you're saying that only 1/6 of Hamas' fighting strength has been destroyed, and yet Israel has already killed more than 15 thousand innocent civilians. How many Palestinians will have to die before Hamas is completely eliminated, as Israel and the US aim to achieve? How do you eliminate Hamas if you are killing people's families, parents, children, etc? All those people are going to want to seek revenge on Israel, thus creating more enemies or fostering the growth of more Hamas through your misguided mission.

Sickening opinion not valuing Palestinian lives or acknowledging the hatred deaths of innocent people whether Palestinian or Israeli causes. The fact that the US stood alone speaks volumes. It is not a good look for the US. 9-11 was caused by Israel support. This is a bad moral and strategic vote. Biden maybe nice natured, and better than Republican leaders, but he has not been great with withholding adequate military systems for Ukraine (but important and better than most countries) making the war longer and more expensive in deaths, morbidty and money; nor been good at withdrawl of troops from Afghanistan and now this. He needed to US muscle instead of just words with Israel to prevent this.
No victory will come through killing Palestinian civilians

Hamas – ironically whose founding was abetted and financed by Israel to split the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) led by the late Yasser Arafat, who was later likely murdered by Israeli poison experts from Russia.

Doctors Without Borders issued an unusually sharp criticism of the U.S. on Friday after the bloodthirsty Biden administration stood as the lone vote in the UN Security Council against a ceasefire in Gaza, as Israel continues its collective punishment on Palestinians.
