The Wall Street Journal has a new two-part feature detailing what it describes as Europe’s ‘rupture’ with the United States following this week’s NATO Summit in Turkey. The Journal reports that President Trump’s tariff’s and threats to take Greenland has sparked a quote, “rebellion” amongst European leaders who are now drawing limits on so-called “flattery diplomacy.” The paper reports many leaders now view autonomy as the long-term goal,. Rather than a temporary measure, adding that even if leadership changes the era of relying on America so heavily had ended. The Trump administration issued subpoenas on Friday to several journalists for The New York Times, after the paper reported on security concerns involving President Trump’s new Qatari-donated Air Force One. In some cases, the subpoenas were delivered by federal agents who showed up at reporters’ homes. The subpoenas seek to force the reporters to testify before a federal grand jury in Manhattan on Wednesday, and are an extraordinary escalation in President Trump’s efforts to threaten and intimidate independent news organizations. NYT Investigative reporter Michael Schmidt joins Morning Joe with more on this developing story.

At the recent Florida Freedom Summit, Trump freely bragged that he fired former FBI director James Comey because the latter was investigating Trump's possible Russian collusion connections in the 2016 elections. As he expressed thusly:
“If I didn’t fire Comey, they were looking to take down the President of the United States… I don’t think I could’ve survived if I didn’t fire him.”
I wonder what was MORE stupid: That he indirectly admitted his guilt when he fired Comey, or that he is openly boasting about it now while he's got an avalanche of indictments running against him!
