Thanks so much for watching everyone. This is the wildest story I've covered in my 13 years in Silicon Valley, and talking to Satya made it clear this is a fast-moving situation that could take several more twists and turns. I'm running out of popcorn but will keep trying to bring you the most up-to-date news 🙂

Its said that Chess, the strategy game got its origin in India, no wonder he is playing so well that there is no other move left but those with big rewards for Microsoft!! Damn cant say which side to take when Titans like Microsoft and Google will go head on for AI in coming days….

This was quite a masterful dance by Satya though reading between the lines I think there’s a bit of tactfully smoothing over the fact he initially announced that Sam would be heading a team within Microsoft and he ended up back at OpenAI. It sounds like they already had a strong partnership with OpenAI and Sam and this simply lands them back in the same place but with a new OAI board that will not spring any more surprises like this. Ironically, my read from what Satya said is that Microsoft as an existing partner with OpenAI expected the same level of candid communication from the OAI board that they complained was lacking from Sam. He doesn’t like surprises although he’s proven he can react swiftly to them. Behind the scenes this no doubt has opened doors to a deeper partnership that will hopefully benefit both parties as well as the end users.

Imagine how employees are being loyal to a CEO and standing up for him. Would CEOs ever do the same. When Open AI Generative AI's reaches a critical point and 20- 30% of their workforce is no longer required they will lay-off all these employees without notice. This is how corporates are smart at gathering one way loyalty.

Iran War: Bessent Sanctions Plan Threatens US-China Tensions | Daybreak Europe 8/25/2026

Published

on

Bloomberg Daybreak Europe is your essential morning viewing to stay ahead. Live from London, we set the agenda for your day, catching you up with overnight markets news from the US and Asia. And we’ll tell you what matters for investors in Europe, giving you insight before trading begins.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s threat to unleash an “economic D-Day” against Iran risks setting the US on a collision course with China, its main trading partner. Bessent promised an “economic onslaught against Iran’s financial connections around the globe” as President Donald Trump tries to wind down his unpopular war in the Middle East.

US stock-index futures gained as pressure on technology shares eased, signaling tentative optimism ahead of key earnings this week that will test confidence in the artificial intelligence trade. Bitcoin advanced to a three-month high.

And Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume prepared to confront workers over his plans to radically shrink the carmaker, a test of his ability to push through sweeping changes at speed.
