How Trump could use loopholes to make sure no ‘grown-ups in the room’ get in his way

Published

on

Even though some presidential appointments require approval by the Senate, that wouldn’t necessarily prevent Donald Trump from surrounding himself with dangerous sycophants if he wins a second term. And while there is a tradition of separation between the presidency and the Justice Department, there are no laws demanding it, essentially giving Trump full control of the DOJ if voters return him to the White House. Barton Gellman, staff writer for The Atlantic, talks with Alex Wagner about “How Trump gets away with it.”

There is something your leaving out but that is your MO. If the SCOTUS denies the request to expedite the motion as most agree is almost 90% what that are going to do. That would prevent the Political Prosecution from starting in May. And until the Appeals are completed the trial can not start. So when that happens and they cant start the trial before the election the whole reason for the all the cases disappears. I like 65& of all American Citizens see this as purely Political. Add to that the fact the SCOTUS has agreed to take up the case of those Jan 6th defendants. Since most of the charges that Smith is pushing are the same as the cases against the others. The case could also be held until that case also is decided on by the SCOTUS. Again pushing the start date to after the election. Now I can see the DOJ finding an off ramp when the case can not be tried before November 2024. Everything hinges now on what the SCOTUS does. I have my money on them denying the request to expedite the appeals process since there is no Legal issue that would call for it to be expedited. I well we all knew the DC Court would give in to Smith but I can't see the SCOTUS doing the same thing. Any way you look at it the chances of this trial even starting before November 2024 is getting smaller and smaller.

I would go as far as to say Trump could be the Anti Chr___. No one has gotten away with so much hate, caused so many deaths, hurt this country as much as he, to date.

Trump is an empty vessel and gets his motivation for life from his misguided
goons. It's a symbiotic relationship. Law and order will break that cycle and
destroy trump. We are unsure what will become of his goons once he is gone.
They might eliminate each other because they have a propensity for violence.

Why do Republican voters want a dictator? Why do they value the rule of law so little?

Trump is a Revolutionary, unafraid of epic Combat, to unleash a new world order… just like what George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin did. Who were demonized by the stale British empire establishment. Love him or hate him, Trump is the supreme figure of this era. Deep down the masses crave a charismatic strong man.

Trump was a narcissist greedy psychopath who indulged in corruption. If Trump does a second term as president, our democracy is over. Trump will know exactly how and when to install himself as president for life. He will not care how it looks and wouldn't hesitate to break any law.

The thought of DJT as POTUS is nauseating.

  25. @stvwds61

    December 14, 2023 at 6:10 pm

DJT rationalizes it this way, he will appoint whomever he pleases and let someone sue, in federal court of course, in dissatisfaction. He'll then slow roll it to its death or will reorganize the Judicial Branch to his benefit. Simple as that!!!
