Released tape features Ronald Reagan using racist slur
In a newly unearthed audio clip, then-California Gov. Ronald Reagan disparaged “monkeys” from African countries in a phone call with then-President Richard Nixon, according to the former director of Nixon’s presidential library.
Tim Naftali, who directed the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum from 2007 to 2011, writes that Reagan — who would later become the 40th President of the United States — called Nixon in October 1971, the day after the United Nations had voted to recognize the People’s Republic of China. In the call, he says, Reagan is heard apparently referencing the way the Tanzanian delegation started dancing in the General Assembly when the UN took the vote to seat the delegation from Beijing instead of Taiwan.

And there you have it. The recording didn't make itself. Both Reagan & Nixon were closet racists but, to the right, those are two of their gods so like with Trump, they'll just make excuses & defend them, some even get defensive, &/or turn a blind eye/deaf ear. I am convinced that both Nixon & Reagan will be Trump's 'welcoming committee' when he joins them in hell.

Everyone is losing their shit over what Regan said but Donald Trump has the second highest number of ballots cast to a US presidential candidate ever, second only to Joe Biden and that was after 4 years in office. Right now he is 8 or 9 points ahead of Biden in the national polls. This kind of thinking runs through the veins of white America, that's why.

Ronald Reagan famously defended black football players and brought them home to stay with him. Making a racially tinged joke about leaders of African countries in 1971 means nothing. Until 5 minutes ago, every single person laughed at jokes worse than that on Johnny Carson.
