anyone up for some counterpoint ? (or do we prefer a sounding board reflecting our own opinions back at us🤷🏽‍♂️)

documentaries about pain & suffering get the eyeballs … it seems we love to see people crying on screen. it moves us.

accounts soberly delivered by military analysts like john mearsheimer & global analysts like jeffrey d sachs aren’t as compelling. for some reason (maybe we get bored) a sober-minded talking head explaining stuff isn’t as fashionable these days …

so our views become shaped by sentiment. politicians want to tug at our heart strings & we love to back the victims.

but who are the victims (& who are the aggressors?)

why do we let american politicians dictate to us who the aggressors are ? north vietnamese, afghans, iraqis, libyans, syrians, palestinians, cambodians … & the big one russians. how did they all get to be evil-by-definition?

maybe it’s propaganda, people 🤷🏽‍♂️ maybe good & evil are a little more complex than where you were born.

maybe this war was deliberately engineered by a few people (the CIA?) and both ukrainians & russians are victims ?

yes, we all prefer a fairy tale version of most things, but reality, it seems, is often waaaay more complex.

does this documentary suggest we rethink things ? look for answers? or cry for ukrainians ?

Here is a question I do not hear anyone asking "Just how does sending billions to places like Ukraine help American Citizens? Did Russia attack America on 911? Was it Russia's little Science Project that unleashed a world wide Pandemic? Did I miss where Russia is again a Communist Country?
Sending Aid to Israel is in Americas best interest because Israel is our only friend and ally in that part of the World.
So could someone please tell me how sending more of our tax dollars to them directly benefits us the American Citizens?
And if it doesn't why should we take American Tax Payer money out of America?

The Kremlin / Russia hopes the Republicans continue to block aid to Ukraine. The House majority did get something done after all and made some new friends. More good news for Russia, the International Olympic Committee has voted to let Russia compete in the upcoming Olympics Games. War crimes mass graves assassinations taking children hostage to Russia, more than 560 children killed. Civilians killed 10,000 plus wounded over 18,500. Yeah. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. I'll pass on that little hot spot this time around. Peace

Rep. Dean: Trump ‘Lit The Match’ That Caused The Capitol Hill Riots | Andrea Mitchell | MSNBC

Published

on

By

Congresswoman and impeachment manager Madeleine Dean (D-PA) tells Andrea Mitchell that President Trump “lit the match,” causing the riots at the Capitol on January 6. Dean also pushed back on the notion that impeaching a former president is unconstitutional. “And we do know, number one, it is constitutional because the text of the constitution is not just about removal as a result of impeachment and conviction but also future disqualification. The framers knew very much the threat of mobs and demagogues,” she said. Aired on 01/25/2021.

Sen. Murphy: Proposed Relief Bill ‘Could Get Us Through What Could Be A Very Hard And Deadly Winter’

Published

on

By

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) joins Andrea Mitchell to discuss the proposal of a $908 billion COVID relief bill by a bipartisan group of senators as 14 million Americans could lose unemployment aid by the end of December. Sen. Murphy says, “This amount of money could get us through what could be a very hard and deadly winter. This isn’t big enough to be able to get us to the point where the entire country is vaccinated. But it might be enough to make sure that millions of Americans don’t go hungry, don’t starve, don’t die out on the streets this winter when their jobless benefits expire and when protections for evictions expire.” Aired on 12/01/2020.

‘ERODING our democracy’: Morning Joe reacts to SHOCKING NYT Editorial on Trump’s election meddling

Published

on

By

The New York Times editorial board is out with a new series tracking 12 categories of democratic erosion in the United States, highlighting the “worrisome steps” it says President Trump has taken toward undermining American democracy. Measuring on a scale from zero to 10 — with zero representing a strong, though imperfect, democracy and 10 representing a true autocracy — the board has moved one category, “manipulating the law to stay in power,” up to Level 3. The Morning Joe panel breaks down the ominous warnings from the piece as the country heads toward the November midterms and the 2028 election.
