   “Talk to police when they get there.” So unprofessional, obviously she was scared shitless and this woman hangs up with her after she’s been missing for 10 years. I hope she was fired.

   Even after 10 years that dispatcher's tone still irks me. It's like he didn't even register what he was being told. It's amazing Amanda was able to hold it together as well as she did.

   He did not seem to be comprehending or really listening. Dispatchers have a difficult job to do. Have to be competent, empathetic and quick thinkers. This one is Not right for the job.

At least we have a hero who saved these young women who deserved none of this,Amanda mainly wasted her breath talking to that sick fucking bastard.     Gotta be kidding??! This was on TV in my country the same day the 3 women were rescued, and that 911 operator was commented by the journalist on the case: How bad that really was, "I'm dying!" "Are you sure?" "I'm dying!" "Well, where do you live? If you don't talk nicely and keep it low there, I'm gonna hang up." Shit shit shit! How many people would do something like that, and sound so authentic??!

    Am I hearing things? I hope to God I'm hearing things and I did not know hear this gentleman slightly chuckle at the 1:32 mark. Perhaps, in his defense, he thought it was some sort of prank call, but geez, it was my understanding these guys are supposed to treat all matters as seriously as possible. Has this man ever explained why he acted this way? Does he still have a job? Geeeeezzz

    i think the dispatcher needs to be fired without pay, because she did not handle the 911 call properly.  the end of the 911 call, the operator called amanda berry a "f"ing

    That 911 Operator needs to be fired. I have been raised inside a dispatch center and I have never in my life heard a dispatcher talk to someone like this, especially someone who is this upset. They should have 1. been trained better 2. known who they were talking to

    I am a 13 year veteran police dispatcher/911 operator. The 911 operator seemed very inexperienced and/or ill-trained by the way she handled the call and the caller. It's easy to play "Monday morning quarterback" and say what I would have done differently. However, after much thought, I am confident that I would've done some things different than this 911 operator. If she had done what she should have and could have done, her response to the still volatile situation would have been much different. As a 911 operator I have at my fingertips access to a computer containing all missing persons files. If I am the 911 operator in this call I ask Amanda Berry for her date of birth. Once I have that I type her name in the computer searching missing persons files. I am then immediately given what we call a "hit" for a missing endangered juvenile named Amanda Berry. Upon looking at the date of entry–10 years prior to the call that I am on with Amanda Berry right now, I know this call is the real deal. I make sure the police dispatcher knows the gravity of the situation so they can tell officers to respond with lights and sirens. I also keep Amanda Berry on the phone until police arrive. I may need to give her instructions on how to keep herself out of harms way from the kidnapper should he emerge before police arrive. Simply checking the missing persons files would have changed the 911 operator's response. Thankful the 3 ladies are now safe and the monster is dead.

    I hope that dispatcher got fired!! so rude that poor woman needed help did he not understand she had been missing for 10 years as she told him more than once! my heart goes out to them 3 women and the little girl xx hope u can all have a decent life now that monster castro has gone. he is one evil scumbag he doesn't even deserve hell he deserves worse!!!

    There are holes in the story but no one wants to say it, because they are afraid of being perceived as defending Castro. In a case like this, it was mostly likely Stockholm syndrome which they now dont want to admit to. They probably decided to leave because Castro was starting to abuse the child Berry had with him, or at least she was afraid of this. Predators like Castro choose their targets well – people who can be controlled & wont fight back (or at least die trying).

    When this video was posted he hadn't been found guilty yet, so they would've had to bleep out personal info in case he had been found innocent and could've sued the station for defamation.

    I wonder when someones are in danger and call 911 for a quick action, operators ask a lot of questions by phone and waste time instead of very rapid rescue. Asking an address for sending police forces is the most important question! Maybe operators need more training!
