House explodes in Arlington, Virginia, while police serve search warrant, officials say
A house in Arlington, Virginia, exploded Monday night, shortly after officers were executing a search warrant at the residence for reports of a person discharging several rounds into a suburban neighborhood, officials said.
Police said in a statement that a preliminary investigation indicated the suspect “discharged a flare gun approximately 30-40 times from inside his residence into the surrounding neighborhood.”

OpenAI found additional incidents of AI models acting deceptively and taking unsanctioned actions during training, the company announced Wednesday. It’s also introducing a new process for the company to publicly report such instances.
Under the new system, OpenAI will share updates on concerning AI behavior more frequently instead of waiting to bundle multiple instances into one report. The company said it wants to share more information about troubling AI behavior in the absence of an industry-wide standard.

The race to develop artificial intelligence is in dire need of a slowdown, Anthropic’s chief executive Dario Amodei said in an essay posted early Saturday.
“We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models. Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use of the time we gain,” Amodei wrote in the 3,800-word post to his website.

It looked like the explosion was from a missile fired from outside the house. The probability of the home owner having the kind of explosives to do that much damage is very low
