Nicolle and Aaron Sorkin: This is Trump’s ‘ultimate mind f***’
Aaron Sorkin wasn’t planning to make another movie about Facebook — until he met a whistleblower whose story he felt compelled to tell. In an expansive conversation with Nicolle Wallace, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning writer and director discusses his new film, The Social Reckoning, and the extraordinary power Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook wield over nearly 3 billion people — and the costly decisions that have shaped the platform’s impact on our lives, our politics and our democracy.
A follow-up to 2010’s The Social Network, Sorkin’s new film examines Facebook in the age of Trump, telling the story of whistleblower Frances Haugen’s decision to expose internal documents detailing misinformation and potential harms, while exploring an older Zuckerberg confronting the consequences of the technology he created. Sorkin explains why he chose to release the film ahead of the midterm elections and why he believes there is still room for optimism — if we are willing to act.
Wallace and Sorkin explore Zuckerberg’s immense influence, the decisions surrounding Facebook on January 6, the people inside the company who knew what was happening and remained silent, and why Wallace sees Zuckerberg as “bubble wrapped from reality.” They discuss the complicated empathy the film invites audiences to feel for Zuckerberg — and how that empathy can coexist with accountability for decisions that affect billions. Sorkin also shares the story of Zuckerberg’s former consigliere and their falling out, his reaction to Jeremy Strong’s portrayal of Zuckerberg (whom Sorkin calls “the best American actor under 50 years old”), and Facebook’s efforts to obtain the film’s script before its release. He reveals how the filmmakers prepared for potential legal challenges, including the threat of a lawsuit.
The conversation also examines Trump’s relationship with Zuckerberg, the former president’s attacks on the media despite his apparent appetite for attention from credible news organizations, and the essential role investigative journalism plays in holding powerful people and institutions accountable. Wallace and Sorkin discuss why Congress and the law continue to lag behind rapidly advancing technology, the consequences of leaving that power unchecked, and why the stakes for democracy could hardly be higher.
And in a moment that connects Sorkin’s celebrated work across generations, the conversation turns to A Few Good Men, Hegseth’s “illegal order” and the enduring importance of questioning authority. Wallace, who was inspired by Allison Janney’s portrayal of White House Press Secretary C.J. Cregg on The West Wing to imagine a future for herself in the White House, joins Sorkin in reflecting on the responsibilities of the press, the dangers of unchecked power and the choices that define our political moment.
From Facebook’s influence over billions of lives to Trump, whistleblowers, investigative journalism and the future of American democracy, Sorkin’s message is clear: We need to take democracy more seriously.

You really want to destroy the nation for your fictional social justice narrative. Eh? Racism? Eh? More evil than crime and murder, racism. Nothing is a bigger threat to society than racism? Yeah? Not even the dissolution of private property and the right to self defense? Huh? You FBI alphabet soup Wacko's just want the whole country to implode? You're saying the biggest threat is racism. . . Not …. You know…. The dissolution of basic rule of law? The type these men acted legally to uphold? To detain a suspect on you and your neighbors property who has a known history in the neighborhood for comitting theft and felony theft charges?
You want to end the rule of law. For a racial dictatorship which gives a free pass to commit crime to blacks? What, pray tell, will you get in return from a hoard of African Americans who do not value hard work or the rule of law and prefer a criminal lifestyle? Your constituency. Will they create new technologies? Be fruitful and productive workers? Or will they just continue to riot and burn down cities and dissolve the founding principles of our society.
Its ridiculous, anybody and everybody with half a brain see through this shtick and you may have an army of mindless fools but don't think for a second you have the favor of any intelligent, politically aware person in the entire planet.
They riot. Pressure jurors. If jurors fail to convict, more riots. Then federal charges. Double jeopardy. AKA the end of civilization. The federal government is judge jury and executioner.
It will not end well for you unless you aim to have a regressive societal collapse culminating in a bloodbath. Crime is not a racial entitlement. Point blank. End of story. If you make it a racial entitlement sooner or later you are going to see a pushback unlike anything you could imagine.
What me, and all others who would be so reviled for our stance on a case such as this, all we want, is for law to be law. Not this voodoo trick in the back pocket of your agencies.
Choose smart over dumb. We don't need millions of idiots who think this man who was clearly a serial larcenist has any right to resist being detained by any affected parties following trespass. End of story.
It can be fixed in 1 year, 4 years, 60 years, 600, 6,000. But the end of the day this narrative of the Criminal Saint leads to a very dark reality. Far darker than the reality proposed by advocates of law as originally written and fair, constitutional, non double jeopardy, trials.
Just boggles my mind. If you think that crime should be a racial entitlement you may as well go ahead and launch your entire nuclear arsenal at all 50 states because it's truly as condemning for the fate of the nation as a nuclear holocaust.

"3 (Trumpian) Men Charged With Federal Hate Crimes In Killing Of Ahmaud Arbery In Georgia" thereby reminding us, yet again, that "Jan621" Insurrectionist DJT is "utterly incompetent" as per the words of both his own Federal Judge elder-sister Maryanne Trump Barry and his own Clinical Psychologist niece Dr. Mary Trump. May "Imp2POTUS45" always hear "You're fired" via the unwavering reality of election results that reject him who is the cause of "Mourning In America."
