   Hey CNN! I get that politics are important to you, but why aren't you currently covering the nine year old girl who got pepper sprayed this past week? What? Black lives don't really matter to you unless you can use them to channel disdain toward political leaders you don't like? I get it, Im not a trump fan either, but you're looking very hypocritical right now staying silent on police brutality against black lives now that trump is gone

   I'm a pediatric nurse. I'm sorry, but a 60 lbs child with a SHARPENED piece of wood is dangerous when they are actively trying to hurt or threaten someone with it. A sharpened piece of wood can definitely pierce skin and could even splinter off in that skin when that happens. It could even kill someone if used in the soft unprotected abdomen where it could easily go through skin and muscle – even with only the force of a 60lbs child. Also in my experience holding children of the same size down to start IVs, it can take 3- 4 adults to hold them down. The teachers did the correct thing to remove themselves from the situation where they could get hurt and calling the police. The police did the correct thing by using the minimal amount of force they could have under the situation that guaranteed that no one was seriously hurt. Pepper spray causes a burning sensation and minor irritation. It doesn't cause long lasting effects. However, had that child actually been allowed to hurt someone, he would be facing assault charges even at his age. This completely fails to mention that there were at least two previous incidents where police were called to the school about violent outbursts in this child. I agree there are no bad children up to a certain age because they are still learning. However, when a child is that enraged the only option you have that ensures the safety of that child and everyone else is to immobilize him and then talk to him about it when he is calmed down. I'd love to see that woman take a sharpened object out of the hand of a child holding it like a knife to hold his approximately 60-90lbs self where he couldn't hit, punch, kick, bite, or scratch herself. Good luck with that.

   It's a child, do you see what i'm saying? They could have easily neutralized him by taking the stick instead of pulling out pepper spray. Also, if you watched some of the other videos where the kid is talking, he states that he dropped the stick because he was scared and the police pulled out pepper spray, AFTER he dropped it….

   they said he had a piece of wall trimming and the police took him as a threat and if that kid actually attacked the officers the kid could have possibly injured the them and by the kid holding it as a weapon treating to kill them they took him as a threat and the threat had to be neutralized the threat

Like the Psychologist said, "…He weighs, what, 60 pounds? And the officers weigh about 200?…" There are several options to choose from.

   it's not police brutality to "dis-arm". physically grabbing the child and taking a stick from him would have been well within this dumb ass cop's rights in this situation. pepper spray is far more brutal than grabbing and holding.

   it's not police brutality to "dis-arm". man versus child? he should have just grabbed him and taken the stick, done! using pepper spray is brutal, quite frankly. cops do so much to make themselves look bad, it just amazes me how anyone could defend the use of pepper spray on a child. pepper spray is supposed to be used when the user is in imminent danger. if that child posed that big a threat to this cop, then he needs to be off the force working as seamstress some where.

    Taking the weapon out of his hands might not have been possible. Who's to say he wouldn't have stabbed the little girl sitting next to him if anyone had come close?

    It's easy to point fingers, but I doubt the teachers and students thought the pepper spray was excessive. If your kid was afraid for his/her life, I hope you'd thank the cops for taking a course of action that had little chance of failing to save them. A course of action that they knew the media would crucify them for.

    By using an "official police tool" like pepper spray, there is less room for assault claims. Because there was no official procedure on how to handle a situation like this (I assume) the safest choice for the officers was to do what they would do if the kid were an adult.

    I think it's funny how people keep saying "they should of just taken the wood out of his hand" Yea not as easy as it sounds. If you want to grab a sharp object out of the hands of a kid who's pissed off and threatening everyone around, be my guess I'll call the medics for when he stabs you. The cops did what they had to, to ensure the safety of everyone at the school. I'm certain the cops didn't want to pepper spray the kid but when he's angered up and has a weapon your options run thin.

By me defending the cops in this situation your most recent comment implies that you think I love cops which I don't. I strongly dislike cops. But your cynical thinking when you said "Defend the cops all you want…" implies that you don't judge situations based on that moment, you judge them on preconceived notions.

    It would have been great if he did the same thing on that interview show, that would have quieted the sympathy. But cops could grab this kid without any weapons, just some protective gear. He's micro.

    I am not sure if this kid is special ed or not but sounds like he has behavioral problems. Not sure his full capabilities or not but it takes both teachers and people at home to work with kids like as well as any other kid. Let's keep in mind this kid is only 8 and he is not a big kid where they couldn't use a restraint to hold him down from attacking anyone with that "wooden stick" (heaven forbid) .. Come on people lets get real.. Peppers spray was not the wisest and best choice..

    Put corporal punishment back in the schools! If he knew that his actions had consequences he wouldn't misbehave. My parents would have put and end to this kind of behaviour quickly. And why should the taxpayers pay for counseling of the child and parent? Mother, take responsibility for your child's actions. Serial killer Kenneth McDuff's mother blamed everyone but her son and look how he turned out.

    @DAPDave asperger's is sometimes mistaken for Narcissistic personality disorder. It's a very interesting problem. I've faved a documentary for on my channel you might find interesting. However, there are no tantroms as this guy in the doc has better control of it then most. Kids like this 7yo need medication most likely not pepper spray. It's actually good this is getting caught now. Other wise he can do real hard to others or himself if they doesn't get treated.
