Governor calls for more focus on mental health in wake of mass shooting
In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says in the wake of a mass shooting in Louisville, that we need to do more to de-stigmatize mental health and everyone needs to show a little more love and less hate in their day-to-day.

Now, after 4 years as governor, he gets really concerned about deadly mental health National disasters. It is common sense and the absolute responsibility for any governor to fully address all national disasters immediately. Don't mess with the 2nd amendment. Restrictions for 99.5% of responsible gun owners make the 0.5% of criminals very happy. Are criminals going to surrender their AR-15's, etc…certainly NOT.

It's a start. Good points, still not enough to end gun violence. What is so difficult about a ban on assault rifles? We need politicians with strong backbones to say enough is enough.This isn't a 2nd amendment issue.

So what this lengthy interview has told us is that he cares more about protecting your Second Amendment rights than he does about getting a weapon like the A.R. 15, which has no place in modern society, off the street. The guy just lost one of his good friends, and that still isn’t enough. It’s gonna take these guys losing their own kids to that weapon maybe.

The media needs to have mental health professionals interviewed on the ups and downs of dealing with individuals with mental health diagnoses. There are no magic pills that set people's minds to the "normal setting." Sometimes the prescribed drugs or dose levels stop working as the body develops an intolerance. Treatment is an ever evolving life long journey. However, it is a journey that must be funded and taken.

I've a question for all of you Yanks…particularly for all the people that have lost somebody to these crazy events.
Where are AR-15s made? and why is the place still "open for business"?.
They have to be made somewhere…someone has to work to make them too?
Hmm really sometimes talking to the monkey is not going to help…. best talking to the organ grinder…and shame them!
Grow up only cops and soldiers need that kind of weapon anyway…and even then?
I live in a country where "day-to-day" cops don't carry weapons of any kind not even those stick thingies.
Only "special" cops dealing with terrorism and organised crime get to carry guns (now I do think the ordinary cops can call them in a pinch) but that is the exception.
I'd be shocked if I saw anyone with a gun…really shocked.
This love affair with guns is going to have to stop…it will be the death of you!

If that is the case then how come senate democrats objected to a bill that called for mental health care workers in schools and police officers?And why on another bill did senate democrats object to using $134 billion dollars in unused money for schools (money was for covid ) Republicans want to use more for school security,and schools can decide how to better secure their schools it says in bill,but democrats said no,because hey do not care about kids they just want the guns.

He’s a smart guy. Murder is illegal and that doesn’t stop murders. Guns have been around for centuries and only became a problem in the last couple of decades. We have a society problem not a gun problem.
