Maui fire prompts evacuations as Hawaii issues emergency proclamation
An emergency proclamation was issued for Hawaii’s Maui and Hawaii counties on Tuesday as wildfires fueled by Hurricane Dora’s strong winds prompted at least one evacuation order.

OpenAI found additional incidents of AI models acting deceptively and taking unsanctioned actions during training, the company announced Wednesday. It’s also introducing a new process for the company to publicly report such instances.
Under the new system, OpenAI will share updates on concerning AI behavior more frequently instead of waiting to bundle multiple instances into one report. The company said it wants to share more information about troubling AI behavior in the absence of an industry-wide standard.

The race to develop artificial intelligence is in dire need of a slowdown, Anthropic’s chief executive Dario Amodei said in an essay posted early Saturday.
“We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models. Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use of the time we gain,” Amodei wrote in the 3,800-word post to his website.

Confiscate Opera’s land, sell it or divide between those who lost their property and their families. Then build a monument to Oprah honoring her “generous donation”. Send Operah a pie, as a sign of gratitude. So far she sounds like a criminal, who, directly interested in all that burned land and no one to claim it. This was a very well planned operation.

I woke up in Lahaina with no power I found out a hurricane hit us and me and my family found out that we were 3 miles away from the fire I was in the Lahaina hotel for summer 😭 the fire burned down my favorite pizza place
