Why Bill Gates Is Buying Up U.S. Farmland
Bill Gates made headlines for becoming the largest private farmland owner in the U.S. But he’s not the only one. Some of the wealthiest landowners including Jeff Bezos, John Malone and Thomas Peterffy are buying up forests, ranches and farmlands across the United States. Why? Watch the video to find out.
Investments in farmland are growing across the country as people, including the ultra-wealthy like Bill Gates, look for new ways to grow their money.
In 2020, Gates made headlines for becoming the largest private farmland owner in the U.S. He had accumulated more than 269,000 acres of farmland across 18 states in less than a decade. His farmland grows onions, carrots and even the potatoes that are used to make McDonald’s French fries.
“It’s an asset with increasing value,” American Farmland Trust CEO John Piotti said. “It has great intrinsic value and beyond that, it is a limited resource.”
The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that 30% of all farmland is owned by landlords who don’t farm themselves. Buyers often purchase land from farmers who have owned it for decades; many of whom may be asset rich but maybe cash poor.
“The economic realities for them are typical that they’ve spent their life farming,” said Holly Rippon-Butler, land campaign director at the National Young Farmers Coalition. “Their retirement, their equity is all in the land and tied up in selling land.”
Private landowners are also making a profit by utilizing the land in numerous ways. Approximately 39% of the 911 million acres of farmland across the U.S. is rented out to farmers, and 80% of that rented farmland is owned by landlords who don’t farm themselves data from the Agriculture Department shows.
“The young farmers are just as happy to lease the land because whether you are young or old, it’s a business, right?” said Thomas Petterfy, chairman of Interactive Brokers and owner of 581,000 acres.
“You go buy a farm and you put that cash rental lease in place, you’re going to be looking at about 2.5% return on your capital,” Peoples Company President Steve Bruere said.

Meta Is Facing Its Biggest Trial Yet, And Its Future Hangs In The Balance
Meta is facing what could be its most consequential trial yet, as 29 state attorneys general accuse the tech giant of knowingly designing Facebook and Instagram to addict children and misleading the public about the risks. The states are seeking civil penalties that could approach $200 billion and changes to core features like infinite scroll and autoplay, while Meta says the claims are unsubstantiated and that it has built strong protections for teens. The outcome of the federal trial could reshape how social media platforms are designed and open the door to greater liability for companies across the industry. CNBC’s Julia Boorstin examines why this case could become Big Tech’s “Big Tobacco” moment, and what a loss could mean for Meta’s business and the future of social media.

If someone who has never worked in theyr lifetime can own 275000 acres of land, someone who works full time, should own at least 1/20 of acre, even if theyr job is cleaning toilets. Not even mentioning why the law allows it in the first place.

1.86% is pretty insignificant. America is very big and there are tens of billions of acres of vacant land across this nation. Most counties in the U.S. have small populations in small rural towns where there are few jobs, so land there is very cheap. The U.S. government owns 1/3 of the land, which makes it not available to be privately owned.

Not a fan of him but look up the biggest land agriculture owners. Turner family is in top five. Seems like a lot. My main ranch is 14000 acres which is considered small in agriculture. Facts matter as long as it's true. This wasn't looked at. They're not telling just how many acres are there in the US. Too many people here. Bill Gates ain't on this list!!!

He is creating a monopoly of consumable foods produced in a lab. So he is eliminating the competition! The doings of Bill Gates are evil! Do Not believe him!

No you own it. that's you're stock money. you own it crammed into your little modern town, or apartment. you just don't have room to put it anywhere so he's "managing it." You know that piece of paper they send you that says you have all of this money? that's what all of that land is but he can't fit that in the mailbox. as soon as they figure out how to put it in the mailbox they're going to send it to you.

when comes the time to take the mvrk if they own it all then where does that leave space for people who do not want to serve svtvn. People will transition from stvrvation or xyz. But in the end Allah or God or whatever you want to call it will come back to save all. No one owns the land because its very existence came from Allah / God ❤ The best thing you can do is Focus on Solutions. Focus on Allah / God. Focus on your family. Focus on being a good example for the children/ future generations.

In Az, its the Saudis buying and leasing land and undercutting our groundwater which we in the southern counties have worked to bank for drought years. They grow high water use crops and use up the ground water. Investment companies are doing the same with home ownership. If we don't change our laws to stop housing and agricultural monopolies, that top percent that owns 93% of wealth will own everything and we will be paying to rent with no real ownership.

Simple to starve out the no longer need work force .plans never changed. Bored and sick of it .stop thinking you have the answer or you think this or that thats how they control you all you have to do is listen to what they tell you they are doing and why or have told you in the past they stick to the plan .so easy boring and nothing you or anyone else can change or do anything about it the script is there for both sides just depends weather you think you know more than real players and ofcouse weather you see all starting with the mental construct ie your mental prison you and your past generations have keep functioning while the few who constructed it sit back and laugh at the hamster on the wheel. Key take everything from all and take 5% that is repeated in everything lose 95% add all the 5%'s welcome to the real world.
