   I homeschool my kids and I realized that how they teach kids is pretty confusing so I took action and I personally taught my kids and told them to disregard their teachers if my method is easier for them thanks to that my kids grades and test scores have gotten so much better.

   To me the period of 0 to 6 years (after which school starts) is the real attitudinal preparation at home for the glorious next 16 years of school and college years.
   A LOT LESS EMPHASIS during those years on material things, and too popular falsities such as unicorns, santa, angels, etc. And a lot more emphasis on curiosity towards how materials and things behave and are made will be a great asset to children

    Teachers leave because of woke times. Teachers are not empowered the way they started. Cant blame them. I would want to be respected while performing my job. Lastly, the pay should he much higher. I have great respect for teachers. High marks in my book. Good luck.

    I went to public school in four different countries. American schools were the worst by far. The two years in the French school system helped me pass all the exams in HS in America. I was absent basically the whole time in HS and just showed up for the tests.

    This problem surely solve if usa government help to coming international students of primary section to study in usa like sri lankan english medium students .lot of sri lankan students which are studying in international schools try to come usa but getting visa is most difficult .

    We dismantled the values sytem our culture is based upon and there is a breakdown of social trust. Without a return to traditional values, the problem will only get worse. There is no return without a major catalyzing event. We will continue to fracture and finger point until we are in open conflict. The broken education system is just a symptom of a much larger problem.

    The kids rejected the common core, I would know, taught science for over 30 yrs and saw it all, yes kids will mis behave, but only when they are bored, and the common core was a good idea that ignored wether it would appeal to the kids, or even make sense to anyone! Eventually it became the darling of the testing community, with their endless tests THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CURRICULUM TAUGHT IN THE CLASS! We studied space science, acceleration, newtons 3 laws of motion, etc and those damn tests covered OTHER scientific topics outside of what we did all year! They told us what to teach and then tested on something else, of course the kids did horribly, but the testing community likes that all our kids are left behind so THEY CAN SELL US MORE OF EVERYTHING!! Get rid of the testing mafia that currently chokes the life out of our schools, we can do much better for our kids than subject them to endless testing!

    But yeah, the problem is that America can't just be happy with how they're doing and how the people of the country are doing. And do one standard education like everybody's supposed to be getting and accept that extras are extras. And the standard is the standard and that's it. Why are you looking at other countries performance? Those kids are studying for 16 and 18 hours. Or is 6 to 7 days a week for hours every single day they don't go out and play they don't go out and have fun. You know who cares who cares and then what to turn around, to have the same job when they grow app, just leave alone, we don't need to be them, we're us, we have fun in this country we relaxing this country. We don't do stuff that is not necessary in this country. You want to sit around and have your child study for 1618 hours 7 days a week that this was literally you can look it up actually on YouTube. It's a little girl and she's crying because she's only allowed 1 hour of computer a day and all the time she studying studying and that's all she does. She studies her school work. She does her other academic things. Her parents want her to do like music and dance and stuff. But either way, she's just always doing something education. Wise 24 hours every day. She gets 1 hour to have fun. And this little girl is breaking down in tears. Begging to just be on the computer for one more hour. Even thirty more minutes even fifteen more minutes and this is literally what she said

    So WHY is the Education System Failing? Is the problem with the system, which has been in place for over a century, or is the problem with society and parenting? Regarding "standards," I was shocked when I was called out of retirement to teach at the college level, and the students had not mastered basic 6th grade grammar.

    Its hard to achieve these standards without students discipline. Which starts at home. Parents dont parent and dont hold their own kids accountable. Students act up, then parents coddle them, dont do anything

    The school system is not beyond fixing. There are some practices which flat out dont work. "Social Promotion" doesnt work. "Equitable Grading" doesnt work. Failing to establish and maintain highly structured behavioral standards doesnt work. Not holding students accountable for their academics and bad behavior doesnt work. Spending millions on technology like chromebooks and tablets DOES NOT IMPROVE MATH OR READING LITERACY. Students are not mature enough to have access to technology in the classroom. They arent learning anything in class because of an overreliance on the internet and their phones.

    Teachers these days are becoming babysitters for kids. They are breaking up fights between students, they have been kicked, punched, called names, etc.. by students which is extremely exhausting day in and day out. Rather than actually teaching material, teachers are having a real hard time maintaining discipline in the classroom. And if you can't maintain any discipline in the classroom, you can't teach the lesson plans properly.

    Sucks because I have an 8 year old son and he is neglected because of our income! We are in upper middle class neighborhood and principal changed 2 years ago and have seen so much favoritism towards the wealthier families so my son is neglected and nothing is being done! Wish teachers would quit doing this; not all there are good teachers but most are crap!!

    How to fail as an education system:

    1. Take away gifted classes. No incentive for hard work equals no one works hard.

    2. Tie school funding to attendance.

    This sounds good in theory, but what happens is true problem children are never punished or removed from school for bad behavior because the school will lose money next year.

    3. Teach minorites that they are living in a "systemically r@c1$t country" so don't bother trying to get ahead. Teach Demoralize caucasian students by teaching them that their ancestors are the cause of every issue in every person's life today because of their skin color.

    What couls go wrong?

    The American education system has never prepared its children to develop intelligence, problem solving skills, and ways to think to actually attain the skills necessary to compete for and achieve success in careers. That being said, companies dont care about you as an intelligent human being capable of independent thought processes. They treat you like children and the jobs are drudgery, scripted nonsense with no purpose and means for advancement..

    Common core is made for your common underachiever (as compared to 1950's aspiring scientists).     Our public education is one of the most expensive in the world and our children are some of the dumbest in the developed world. Stop spending money on education. Take away the money. If I can get a doctorate level education in mathematics from youtube if I want to do the work then there's no excuse for these children to be bright without a lot of money. Students need to be in algebra II by 9th grade and need to be graduating 12th grade with an associate level in computer science and programming, understanding in United States government including how the Federal Reserve works, a real truthful knowledge of American History, an understanding of calculus and trigonometry, the ability to read and write a college essay that would get an A in university before 18 years old. Enough arguing and wasting money on these dumb programs. Common Core, No Child Left Behind blah blah blah.

    There many problems with our schools. We need to get back to basics. Put the shop class and home ec class back. Let’s teach basic math. I can safely say I have never used algebra and I am 60 years old. Make it a elective. Teach banking taxes and civics. Teach reading comprehension again. Pay our teachers. Feed the kids free lunches and breakfast. And teach truthful good or bad history. Our US history is not perfect. We will repeat it if we don’t teach it. And stop demonizing science. Technology is our future. It’s also a matter of national security.
