Any successful model might be described as “super” but not every successful model is a “Supermodel.” That designation is most accurately used to describe a group of one-name-wonders who captivated pop culture in the late ’80s through the ‘90s. It's always "The Big 4" consist of Linda, Christy, Naomi, and Cindy plus Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer and of course the late Tatjana Patitz with runner ups Carla, Yasmeen, Karen, Helena and Stephanie Seymour whose name is literally remembered when the word SUPERMODEL is mentioned.
The Big Six is like a dream team. Linda, Christy, Naomi, Cindy, Kate and Claudia were all house hold names in fashion. This group of women arent just big names on the runway, their editorial catalogue is also huge and widely acclaimed. They definitely are megamodels personified.

I don’t think we will ever see the iconic status of models in the way the 90s supermodel’s dominated the industry. It was an era of shameless excess, arrogance, and fashionable mean girls. Every young woman of a certain age wanted to model themselves after them. We bought everything they had to sell.
As an adult woman now, I look back on the behaviour of many of those young models with the judgemental eye of a mom wanting her daughter to be a better person. But then you see Cindy, Yolanda, Kris (who modelled herself in the 70s and 80s) and other stage mothers promoting nepotism and pushing their kids into the industry so they can live vicariously through them. Perhaps to remain relevant in the industry.

An absurdity that simply skipped the Brazilian bombshells and the Russian invasion, HOW DID THEY NOT MENTION GISELE???? She was literally the highest paid model in the world for 15 years straight, and the model with the most vogue covers in history, ended the "heroin chic" era etc…

The supermodel is not different to the top infleuncers, the medium through which we consume them is different, but they are the same. 0 talent (no walking is not a talent) . Also the lack of Gia in this video is insane, she was the first supermodel, not miss 1950s
