How There Could Finally Be A Cure For Diabetes
Over the past 20 years, significant advancements in stem cell research and therapies have been one of the most promising methods of creating new insulin making cells needed to cure type 1 diabetes.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a biotech company, recently began a clinical trial where it plans to treat 17 participants who have type 1 diabetes with new stem cell derived insulin making cells. The first patient in the trial has had positive results.
Other companies around the world including ViaCyte and CRISPR, as well as Novo Nordisk, one of the biggest insulin manufacturers in the world, are also working on curing the disease. CNBC explores why finding a cure for diabetes is so hard and just how close Vertex and other companies are to solving this problem.

Why Meta’s New AI Model Is Such A Big Deal
Meta has launched Muse Spark, its most powerful AI model yet and the first major product from Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang’s newly formed Meta Superintelligence Lab. The release comes as the company ramps capital expenditures to as much as $135 billion this year, nearly double last year’s spend, raising the stakes for every product that emerges from Wang’s lab. Unlike Meta’s previous open-source Llama models, Muse Spark will be proprietary, with plans to eventually offer paid API access, opening a potential new revenue stream. Meta says larger, more capable models are already in development and that Muse Spark is just the foundation on the road to what Zuckerberg and Wang call “personal superintelligence.” CNBC’s Julia Boorstin explores why this launch is such a big deal for Meta.

Why AI Chips Made In The U.S. Are Being Sent To Taiwan — Creating A Major Bottleneck
There’s a new bottleneck in the AI chipmaking process that happens almost entirely in Asia right now: advanced packaging. It connects smaller chips together into a larger chip like a GPU, so it can communicate with data centers and more. As Nvidia books the majority of capacity, TSMC prepares to break ground on its first U.S. packaging plants, and Elon Musk taps Intel for ambitious custom chip plans in Texas. CNBC got an exclusive interview with TSMC and toured an Intel packaging plant in Arizona to find out exactly how advanced packaging works and why capacity is ramping up fast.

Consuming dead animals has been the leading cause of diseases and pandemics throughout human history and we have all been sold a lie about optimal health. Eating dead animals is causing so much planetary destruction it is truly sad. Follow Mastering Diabetes and you will see the immense difference by removing animal fats from your diet.
It has been years since I was consuming animals and their by-products (milk, cheese, eggs, and butter). Even the doctors, friends, family and others have been telling me for years how unhealthy I would be, I need shots, I am gonna be sick…. Now I use less insulin than I ever have and it is painfully obvious my health is above and beyond most in my age group. None can keep up with my energy and vitality. I only wished I had understood this sooner in life.
At 6' 1" 190 lbs. I always get a shocked response when they learn I do not eat dead animals!! It is hard to be lacking in protein when your body will synthesis protein. A fruit only diet works!

Type 2 diabetes is caused by POOR DIET promoted by governmemt protected corporations that stip food of its nutrients, fill it with preservatives and sugar or high fructose corn syrup and seed oils they claim are "heart healthy", nothing is further from the truth.
They do that minimize production cost and increase shelf life for more profitability.

The first patient in New Zealand has received an implant of pig cells to treat type 1 diabetes in a new trial that marks the resumption of a program halted 13 years ago.
The 47-year-old man, who has not been publicly identified, was treated at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland in a collaboration with the producer of the specially-coated pig cells, Living Cell Technologies.
He is the first of eight patients to be treated in the clinical trial, which follows a similar, successful trial in Moscow.
The long-awaited and controversial trial offers hope of a new and much improved treatment for type 1 diabetes, which affects around 11,000 people in New Zealand, although if it becomes an approved treatment it is likely to be costly – possibly $100,000 per patient.
The Russian trial showed that the insulin-producing cells taken from the pancreas of neonatal piglets improved the patients' control of their diabetes. It is expected the same will occur in the Middlemore trial.
The hundreds of thousands of minute clusters of cells, infused into the abdomen, release insulin in response to the person's blood-glucose levels, but are protected from the human immune system by their encapsulation in a coating made from a seaweed-based gel.
Living Cell says the 47-year-old man was selected based on the trial's entry criteria which include poor control of blood-glucose.
"Despite meticulous specialist supervision of frequent daily insulin injections, he has continuing frequent episodes of high blood glucose, high glycated haemoglobin levels (HbA1c) and unacceptable swings including low blood glucose levels (hypoglycaemia)."
In line with the trial's Government-stipulated protocol, each participants is monitored for eight weeks before receiving the implant.
Living Cell chief executive Paul Tan said the 47-year-old, who has had type 1 diabetes for 20 years, was well following the implant and would probably go home today.
He expected the second patient would be implanted in four to six weeks.
A human trial started in Auckland in the 1990s using an earlier version of Living Cell's pig pancreatic cell product, but was stopped in 1996 because of new research that suggested pig-cell implants could allow pig retro-viruses to jump into the human population.
But Living Cell, which has tested the therapy on animals, says there is no evidence of humans or other animals being infected by the viruses.
@terrybreeze6070
December 21, 2023 at 11:35 am
Was done in New Zealand in 2009, It was shut down due to the possibility of a Pig virus mutating in to humans , then a few years later NZ found pigs on a remote Island Auckland Island which didn't have the virus so the procedure could continue, but for some reason it never happened , the people who had the implants are still enjoying life without insulin.

This Vid began with a MacDonald's Ad. It seems ironic to me that the chief cause of Type 2 diabetes was able to head up an advertisment at the start of this video. The cause of diabetes in the switch from natural foods to artificial foods. Many people, even, with type 1 can to some degree manage their blood sugars, as long as they limit the types of food that the modern world is plagued with. The chief problem being the refinement of carbohydrates. For type 2 sufferers their problems can be fully reversed simply by avoiding sugars, and other refined carbs, taking care to monitor the glycemic index of what they eat. It is not so much the existence of blood sugar but the massive load that a drink of Coke, a burger bun, or a sweet dessert hits the system, and the response is a massie dose on insulin. SImply enough stop eating bread, pasta, and sweet things. Eat real food and the problem reverses and goes away. For type 1 the problem is not caused by too much insulin but because the pancreas has not the capacity to produce enough. Mangement is always going to include access to insulin shots where necessary and monitoring BS ,but limiting the use of intervention can be helped by following the same advice now given to T2D sufferers.

Absolutely brilliant video. So well edited and produced. Clear and informative. I am so hopeful for a cure. I am approaching 40 years of type 1. I'm grateful to not have any serious diabetic complications so far, despite an A1C that is higher than I'd like. I give thanks for that to my mom's multiethnic side of our family, which has tremendous longevity and youthfulness. I have completely forgotten what and how it feels like to live without diabetes. I would love to have that reality again. To everyone working on a cure, thank you and God bless you!

December 21, 2023 at 11:35 am
There will be no announcement for a cure. Once its found, they will be paid off and the founders of the cure will be set for life. This will be forgotten and be like a redo where new researchers will be close. Then once they find the cure, rinse and repeat. Pharmaceutical Companies will continue to make billions and billions. They need us to be sick for them to survive.

Great for type I but if they are suggesting this would cure type II, they are sadly mistaken and this type of beta cell manipulation would certainly make type II worse. In simple terms, type I is someone whose body is not making insulin, where type two is a matter "insulin resistance" or the body has to produce more insulin to try to keep excess glucose out of the bloodstream. On type II, if you focus on fixing the insulin resistance rather than pumping in even more insulin, then you have a better chance of curing the disease. I am type II and after a couple of years of following my doctors advice and seeing things get worse, I was forced to do my own research and find a scientific community abd netwok of doctors and researchers who are figuringing it out. Although there are some genectic markers, type II is mostly caused by a combination of modern lifestyles of diet, abundance, pollution, chemical toxicity, technology, greed, bad media, and bad science. We can control many of these variables but most people are not willing to do what is needed to reverse type II even though it is easier and cheaper to do so. SAD,sad.
