Harvard Alumni Wants to Help Thailand Reclaim Lost Decade

Published

on

Thailand’s Move Forward Party wants to reclaim the lost decade under a military-backed rule by de-monopolizing businesses and reducing the role of armed forces, its leader Pita Limjaroenrat tells Bloomberg News. The opposition party will also push for decentralization of economic power outside its capital and commercial hub Bangkok if it wins next month’s general election, Pita, an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School of Government and MIT Sloan School of Management said in an interview on April 19, 2023.

I am a MFP supporter and believe Pita and his party can be the best step forward for Thailand. Unfortunately I am not Thai so I can't vote, and also unfortunately MFP have failed to get enough Senate votes to form a government and name Pita as their Prime Minister. Now they have deferred to their runner-up party Pheu Thai and it still remains unclear if their alliance will be sustained or if Pheu Thai will double-cross them and go form a coalition with other parties in order to get enough Senate support to form a government and name a PM. So the real enemy of democracy at this stage is the military-appointed Senate who have shown they will never accept Pita as the next PM and this is a real punch in the face of democracy when in fact MFP was voted in the majority by Thai voters in the May election. These Senators have until the end of their term (next May) to continue blocking the will of the people and then I/we hope they will be sent packing and go retire to dinosaur-land. I believe and hope that Pita will never give up and help move the country forward. Oh and today is Thaksin Shinawatra's 74th birthday, and he said repeatedly he is returning to Thailand to face his charges and go to jail, so at least for now, Happy Birthday =)

‼️ The election in Thailand was won by the Move Forward Party, signaling progress. However, their ability to advance has been hindered by an unusual law implemented by the pro-military government. This law grants appointed senators the power to vote for the prime minister. Surprisingly, they voted against Mr. Pita, the leader of the Move Forward Party. Allowing appointed senators to influence the voting process clearly deviates from democratic principles.‼️

The color orange is synonymous with The Move Forward Party, led by Pita. Supporters express their allegiance to the party or Prime Minister Pita by using orange emojis, including the orange heart emoji.

Over a month has passed, and Pita continues to face scrutiny from the election committee and other entities suspected of being influenced by nefarious forces employing unfair tactics. This is because Pita's rise to power would make it exceedingly challenging to conceal past wrongdoings and expose many hidden truths.

Detractors are attempting to implicate Pita by claiming that he holds a mere 0.0035% stake in a media company whose revenue no longer derives from media-related activities. Moreover, Pita holds these shares in a fiduciary capacity, indicating that he is not necessarily the actual owner. In 2019, he had already provided a copy of the court order appointing him as a trustee to the National Anti-Corruption Commission. However, the National Anti-Corruption Commission recently discovered that the original document had been misplaced by the court.

The international community is closely monitoring these developments.

Mr. Pita, the leader of Thailand's Move Forward party, which emerged victorious in the country's election on May 14, 2023. However, a concerning situation has arisen as certain Thailand Senators appointed by the military government appear to disregard democratic principles by planning not to vote for Mr. Pita as prime minister, despite his rightful claim to the position. This raises the question of whether these senators should face restrictions on entering countries that prioritize and uphold democratic values.

In today's interconnected world, it is essential for the international community to closely monitor the unfolding of this prime ministerial voting process. The decision made by these senators holds significance beyond Thailand's borders, as it reflects the commitment to democratic norms and principles. As such, it is crucial for global stakeholders to pay attention to this situation and assess its implications for democracy at large.

Change is not gonna happen anytime soon. You can not smoothly or decisively win without millions of RIFLES and BULLETS. All these stupid junk elections were just a bunch of futile fake ceremonies which weren't going to change anything anytime soon. From now on, people will learn more from the past and present scenarios. More will understand by watching all the lies and rifts from all sides, and from all the useless consensus, referendum, elections, polls, poop shows, talk show, or whatever you like to call. It's like a show for idiots to follow. Drama series, or we could say a comedy show. A show to entertain people who have already understood the true purpose of all elections in all countries on Earth. ( Even in USA ) You voice is worthless. Nobody cares about your voice unless you have cashes and a lot of (armed) men bolstering/watching your back.

I've never been to any elections, any referendum, any consensus. I don't even know what that means, and what it's really all about. I only watch this for entertainment purposes.

You live in this country, you don't waste your time going to vote. Let the clowns work on its circus. We are the audiences. Our job is only to watch them dance around. Have fun….

Trump Says Putin Will Not Be Attacking NATO Territory | Balance of Power 08/27/2026

Published

“Balance of Power: Late Edition” focuses on the intersection of politics and global business. On today’s show, Jessica Taylor, Senate and Governors Editor at the Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, says public and private polling shows the Texas Senate race essentially tied, with Ken Paxton’s political and personal baggage helping put the state in play for Democrats. Former US Ambassador to NATO Ivo Daalder says the Trump administration lacks a concerted strategy to pressure Russia into negotiations, arguing Washington needs to combine continued military support for Ukraine with stronger economic pressure and diplomacy. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller says President Trump’s push to bring in more foreign beef is hurting US ranchers and could cost Republicans support in the midterm elections.
