http://www.FashionTV.com/videos PARIS – Sarah Burton’s theme for the Spring 2013 Alexander McQueen collection during Paris Fashion Week was bees. When one thinks of bees, they think of yellow and black stripes and more of the typical–but this is Sarah Burton and she has proven that her undertaking of the McQueen brand after his untimely demise has been anything but typical. That means using other ideas related to bees–particularly the idea of honey comb as a textured part of the fabric and dresses that looked like tiered bees nests. And those hard to miss beekeeper veils as headwear, which has become somewhat of a Sarah Burton/McQueen speciality. Publications also reported on the use sexual overtones–or shall we say, undertones in this instance, as the references weren’t overt. For the first time, though, Burton seemed to have tied the entire collection together in a way that speaks more to the line as a whole and less to each piece separately as in seasons past. Perhaps this is the biggest buzz of all.

The clothes are over designed. McQueen had just the right combination of complex construction of the garments while keeping everything very wearable. This is not.

this is one of Sarah Burton's better runways. honestly the 2014 runways have been nothing but less than memorable.
