Dolly Parton, who rose from humble beginnings to the greatest heights of American music and became one of the country’s most philanthropic, unifying and beloved stars, died Tuesday in Nashville, according to a family statement. She was 80. The statement, attributed to her nephew Bryan Seaver, said Parton died “peacefully.” A small, private service will be held for her close family, the statement added.
In a career that spanned over half a century, Parton captured the American experience, penning more than 3,000 songs. Those included “Coat of Many Colors,” a quiet ode to her mother, who stitched together garments in the family’s rural Tennessee home. She wrote and performed songs of love and heartbreak, like “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.” “9 to 5,” the title track from the movie of the same name, in which Parton also starred, became an anthem for American women and workers.
Later in life, she funneled her massive success into philanthropy, founding a library program that has gifted more than 300 million books to children around the world.

Look, for a long time, people in this country say we need to cut all levels of spending in government. Having a strong military is great, but someone has to pay the bills? Nikita Khrushchev, said back in the 50's the government says technology is changing and missions are changing. Hell, back in the 70's it took 400 men to man a Spruance Class Destroy. Well, Zumwalh Destroyer now only takes 160 people, and it has many of the same missions as it's predecessors. The world is changing, and our military must change and get more cost effective.

Before the cuts the US military budget was bigger than the 10 next biggest military budgets combined. I think the US will be fine if it gets cut a bit

Maybe cutting the military isn't that smart, but something HAS to be cut. I'm not american, but every country in the world can see that your nation will go bankrupt and fall to pieces if you dont do something with your economy. Obama may not be taking the best decissions, but everyone can see that he is really trying to fix the economy. And be honest with yourselves, you can't really afford your current military forces. You're surviving on loans.

THE A10 is a close air support role air craft that is supposed to help our troops on the ground against any hostiles. tanks, people, buildings, it saves the lives of our troops. you can't get rid of it because men will die.

The only ones sucking up money away from the military are the lazy rich 1%. The NSA alone cost more than the SNAP program. I think feeding American children is more important that spying on Germany. Or 1.5 trillion on that useless F35. Of which the US has sold a whooping 6 of them.
