Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law requiring public universities and colleges to survey students, faculty, and staff about their beliefs and viewpoints, suggesting that the state could possibly intimidate educators through threats of budget cuts, according to reports. MS NOW reacts to Trump-Musk finger pointing after Ukraine’s satellite slowdown | COMPILATION
Donald Trump and Elon Musk are passing blame back and forth for a disruption in the Starshield service that Ukraine relies on in running operations to defend itself from Russia’s war. The Washington Post reports the White House is holding up the transfer of Patriot missiles to Ukraine on the same day a new report in the Wall Street Journal reveals Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, resulting in confusion from Kyiv to Washington, D.C. Plus, Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that discussions are underway about a summit with President Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine — but Ukrainian President Zelenskyy would not be included.

Hawaii just made history, becoming the first state in the nation to effectively ban dark money in elections. The new law takes a novel approach: rather than trying to restrict corporate speech, it redefines the powers corporations have in the first place — and political spending is not among them. The strategy, known as the “Corporate Power Reset,” was developed by Tom Moore of the Center for American Progress. And at least a dozen states are now working toward passing similar laws.

Serwer argues this Republican strategy has been heavily influenced by the toxic manosphere that’s been brewing in this country. “If we can make men feel insecure about themselves they will adopt right-wing views in order to feel better about themselves,” he says. “And then they will vote Republican.”

This is from a retired public school teacher. If i were a faculty memeber of a University in Florida, I would consider moving to another State to teach. Desantis is a right wing authoritarian trying to even control the academic freedom of speech. He only wants what he and his right winger cohorts to be believe taught in schools. Not a, academic atmosphere of a free flow of ideas. ~ Leave Florida Teachers, the Nazis are coming for you!

With her tired, old "brown scare" and other meaningless and overused cheap shots, she offered absolutely no facts and frankly, her silly rant has no niche or genre. I don't know what that was. However, I do know that Governor Ron DeSantis is a brilliant, highly educated man, a decorated veteran, and is receiving national praise and recognition as the best Governor in the country right now, and perhaps ever. It's no surprise that Joy Reid fans would be completely clueless on this issue, since she won't accurately portray anything from a conservative, but the only thing the survey will seek is whether Florida college students can express themselves truthfully without leftist fascists targeting them for 'Wrongthink,' as is the current norm. Any college that actually protects the right to free speech and free ideas will have nothing to fear from this, but yes there will be panicking professors left and right particularly in the garbage curriculas.
