This reminds me of esurance, which got bought by Allstate. Wouldn't surprise me if it happens to this company.

Oh come on.. how many times have we seen this by now. "we have no interest in your money" and then a few years later they sell your data for profit. I would rather pay someone and that they have no data on me at all, then to have my personal information sold to who ever pays the most.

Lemonade will be the Amazon of insurance

Can’t wait for them to get to Minnesota. Leaving GEICO and everything else behind.

LMND $4119 vs Allstate $2500, it is a no-brainer for me. I have two properties and both were higher quotes! There is no way I would invest in LMND just yet.

Farmer Insurance just raised my cost. I called them why? I haven’t had accident or ticket for my entire 10 years of driving. The agent said because of COVID. I said wtf?!?!

How do they prove these claims? A lot of scamming is going to be going on.

You don't know them well until you file a claim, and Lemonade was like my AIexa. Reimbursed me everything right away in a new york minute. Everything was so easy, from buying to filing a claim. I don't care if my premiums go up next year after my homeowners claim. I'm staying with them for life.

The time of amazing rates is over as lemonade quoted me high for last 3 times. However, still,, lemonade makes it easy to buy and for claims.

Great information from the CE. However tthe way you cut them off with CNBC rock ‘n’ roll in the last 30 seconds it’s so old school and deeply aligns against the mindset of the company in which you are showcasing.

Get with the times. Find a better way to cue a segment change.

Lemonade is a scam! A lot of people are falling for this scam that only works through email, no letters no phone call, they ask stupid questions months later after the start of the policy instead of before the policy

So far, companies have focused primarily on customer-facing applications. But some insurers are beginning to realize that digital means much more than cool and convenient apps for consumers; it is a force that will touch and reshape the very core of their business. Yet firms will reap the full benefit of digital technology only when they embrace its potential along the entire insurance value chain, including underwriting and claims management.

CNBC’s Michael Wayland takes a first look at electric vehicle startup Slate Auto’s modular $25,000 pick up trucks. The cars are affordable and basic, with features that buyers can customize. That includes turning the truck into an SUV. The vehicles had more than 150,000 refundable reservations before their release, despite waning consumer demand in EVs in the U.S. The company is about to find out if the truck can disrupt the market.

The Race To Power AI Is Reshaping America’s Electric Grid

Published

on

By

AI data centers are driving unprecedented demand for electricity and putting renewed pressure on America’s power grid to modernize its equipment and develop greener, more efficient sources of power. Google, Meta, Microsoft and Amazon are all spending millions of dollars on local infrastructure upgrades and companies like SpaceXAI are even building off-grid power plants to power their data centers.

Google says its planned 780-megawatt data center in Pine Island, Minnesota, could offer a model for powering the AI boom. In a proposed agreement with Xcel Energy, Google says it will support 1,900 megawatts of new wind, solar and battery capacity, while minimum payments and exit fees are intended to protect local ratepayers if demand falls short.

CNBC examines whether projects like Pine Island can make the grid cleaner without shifting costs to existing customers, why some energy experts argue that smaller data centers could make better use of infrastructure already in place, and how utilities’ financial incentives can complicate efforts to build less.

Chapters:
0:00 – 2:06 Introduction
2:07 – 4:49 Off-grid solutions
4:50 – 9:00 Upgrading the grid
9:01 – 11:44 Smaller data centers

China’s Swagger After India’s iPhone 18 Leak

Published

on

By

A leak by Indian supplier Tata Electronics, purportedly of the yet-to-be-released iPhone 18 Pro models, has become marketing gold for the Chinese government. The Communist Party paper, The Global Times, is using the leak – caused by a cyberattack – as a cautionary tale for Apple and other American companies that are in the process of diversifying their supply chains away from China. CNBC’s Eunice Yoon reports.

00:58 Correction: The location tag should be Beijing, China.

Why There’s An ‘Extremely Fierce’ Battle For TSMC’s Limited Chip Manufacturing Capacity

Published

on

By

Unstoppable demand for AI is leading to a capacity crunch on factory lines at the world’s leading chip manufacturer, Taiwan Semiconductor. And it could put a chokehold on AI’s ability to scale. Analysts tell CNBC that Nvidia, Apple, Broadcom, AMD and others are locked in an “extremely fierce” competition to get their GPUs, CPUs and custom AI chips made at TSMC. Capacity can’t come online fast enough, despite TSMC’s rush to build new fabs in Taiwan, Japan and Arizona, where has expanded investment to $265 billion. The strain has made one man at TSMC “the most popular person on the planet,” as chip start-ups and big name CEOs visit Taiwan to ask him for wafer allocation. It’s also created a rich opportunity for Intel, as customers look to the long-struggling foundry arm of the U.S. chip manufacturer for a second source.

Chapters:

2:06 ‘Most popular person on the planet’
6:54 Making room for smaller players
9:10 Can new U.S. fabs ease the crunch?
