How does he conclude that "gun ownership has been declining for decades?' No one knows who owns how many guns. With regards to hearing, anyone who spends time on gun forums and around gun enthusiasts knows that the desire for the legalization of silencers has always been about hearing protection. As for hunting, firing the gun with a silencer will still make a very loud bang. But even if silencers did silence the gun, the argument would just have to be that you would not want silencers used for hunting. The notion that it has anything to do with any kind of corporate giveaway to some nefarious "gun lobby" shows Mr. Everitt has no experience with the world of guns.

What a one sided argument. The UK, which has massively stricter gun control laws, actually requires suppressors on firearms used in hunting, and just about any legal recreational setting.
And the Law is in place for exactly the reasons stated. I have hearing damage from my time in the military, and recreational ILLegal sport shooting. I wish this law had been in place for myself, and multitudes of other law abiding citizens.
Even the US Special Forces have gone this route for the same reasons. That, and being able to communicate with their fellow team members.
There are very few Gun Manufacturers that also make these devices, I can only think o two. AOne is Switzerland,and one in Germany.
The claim of Gun companies wanting to sell their suppressors to the public is a non issue, as they are made by private, aftermarket companies.
I can see no reason to perpetuate untruths to guide an issue.

California just passed a ballot measure that requires a background check for each ammunition purchase. The
GOP should pass a federal law repealing this ballot measure under the enforcement clause of the 14th Amendment. The Second Amendment should mean the same thing in California as it does in Montana.

I don't see why anyone has a legitimate need for a silencer. Even the cops don't have them. I voted for Trump and against Newsome's California ballot measure requiring a background check to buy ammunition. I own two guns.

Suppression devices are a luxury for shooters of long range rifles. This type of weapon is responsible for the slightest percentage of gun violence in our country. In those countries with the strictest gun laws, that the gun control lobby uses as models for the solution for violence.
Hunting rifles are commonly equipped with suppressor.

We have mufflers on cars, trucks ,lawnmowers etc.but they wont let us put a muffler on a high powered rifle that can cause irreversible hearing damage with a single shot.

You are far too stupid to understand that a "Suppressor" can be fashioned out of just about anything.
You can easily make one out of a vehicles "Oil Filter" that will be more "Silent" than some of the most expensive suppressors you can purchase.
You do realize that right Morons?
The only two things a "Silencer/Suppressor" are good for are,
1. Helpling to protect you from hearing loss.
2. Making your gun look a little cooler.
Also a "Suppressor" when fired rapidly and reapeatedly can cause your barrel to heat up faster, Actually increasing the risk to the weapon itself.
Meaning that if a bad guy used a real "Suppressor" in a mass shooting and laid down heavy fire for an extended period of time, The barrel of the gun could fail sooner than it would have without the "Silencer" due to the increased heat build up in the barrel.
Thereby saving lives!

You idiots- you know NOTHING. A suppressor drops the sound level to maybe 125 db, from 150+ db. The one time record holder for world's loudest rock concert was Deep Purple in 1972 at 117 db!! Do you think that is SILENT?!? A suppressor simply means a hunter can listen to hear game approach, then fire without blowing out his ears with permanent hearing loss…
I believe anyone can hear a rock concert out in the woods, contrary to what THIS tool said…
