If the rising militarists wish the nation to forget historical Japanese aggression and atrocities before and during WWII, they'll also try suppress the memory of the utter defeat that followed. In a world of almost universal nuclear weapons possession, peace becomes the only course. The enormous waste in building up Japan's conventional warfare capabilities will only provide a false sense of strength and security. In any all-out conflict with China, the Japanese would face the same stark reality that they did seventy years ago: Japan cannot win, she can only die.

I honestly think that the Japanese should be able to be allowed to assist the US, UK, Koreans, or even the Thai or Vietnamese. It would prove better in their international relationship in intervention because it can help them prove more capable of fighting along side our allied nations. Like when JGSDF was dispatched into Iraq to assist distribute aid to Iraqi people. They proved a bit of their capability of distributing aid, if they can help with providing security like UK, French, and US. Then that might be a further step in international military bonds.

Russia , China, North Korea , and pretty much everyone around the region is growing their military power so why can't Japan? It makes sense to get involved in competition so that the region reaches parity to protect themselves.

It's about time that this great nation can finally defend itself. 100 was a different time and political landscape. For the most part they are an honourable people who started from nothing after that war to produce all the worlds best products.

I Support Japan military expansion amid 21st century aggressors like Kim Jung UN, Vladimir Putin and China increasing their military as well. Japan has the right to defense itself and also it needs to be equipped with readily armory to assist it's allies.
